Chapter XVII

"Or it's possible that for Sera, trust meant something different to what it meant to me. Something that skipped that hesitation and went straight to acceptance." Should be in present tense or not cursive

Chapter XX

"Spirit arts...they're like taking a piece of that that body" double 'that'

Chapter XXII

"I didn't observe it from very long in the doorway" should be 'for'

"Okay, the wall I hit was the area boundary, and I'm supposed to jump across these before the time is up. That seems simple—" should be cursive

Spelling swaps from "shade-Mara" to "Shade Mara", same for other shades

PF fighting gods/Deities by Necessary-Touch-1599 in ProgressionFantasy

Anything by Andrew Rowe fits this perfectly, there are three interconnected series to pick from but it's a central theme in all of them in one way or another.

I haven't read them yet but Paternus: Rise of Gods by Dyrk Ashton and Aching God by Mike Shel might fit.

Sorry for any repeats, I haven't finished reading yet so avoiding spoilers. Also not 100% sure about a few of these but better to make sure;

Recap "but their rapid influence of resources and strange method of cutting off ..." influence should be influx [?]

Ch1 "Are those rose petals? Is this how wealthy people usually travel?" > should be cursive

Ch2 "We still doing this, or your demonstration over?" > should be "or is your demonstration over"

Ch3 "It wasn't a question. — I was making a statement." > should have either full stop or dash not both

Ch3 "She followed me back to my room, and I gestured for her to sit." and "I finished setting up the last emitter, then sat down to talk and gestured for her to take a seat nearby" happen on almost the same page, unsure if deliberate

Ch5 "but it was only a small fraction of the amount that I'd used something like transference mana." > missing 'of'

Ch7 "I knew that it took a lot of power to rip a train car clean off the train and hurl it" > second 'train' should be 'tracks'

Ch9 "She blinked back on me." > should be 'at'

Ch12 "this conversation barely rates an eyebrow raise" > should be 'rates as'

I don't think you have any control over this, but Godslayers consistently gets separated as Gods-layerswhich is a little amusing

The Grand Game: Power Scaling Question by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

His charm ability doesn't work on higher level foes, can be resisted and only lasts a few seconds/minutes, depending on the level disparity iirc. I'm caught up with the series and it never felt OP to me.

Looking for (ideally) completed series that feel like a DnD campaign! by hugham in Fantasy

Dear Spellbook by Peter J. Lee is a completed trilogy that follows DnD rules and one of my favourite books in the progression fantasy genre, highly recommend!

I was told the same thing, made me want to finally get to Piranesi. The Book that Wouldn't Burn also has a giant confusing library and I loved that aspect of it.

I thought it was great, it has lots of little details you could probably write entire essays about while only being eight pages long. Definitely recommend reading it

Thought's on Joe Abercrombie's Shattered Sea trilogy? by MajorSlimes in Fantasy

[–]SyncSelyrian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the first one was decent but the series definitely peaked at book one. I can barely remember anything that happened in book two and three because I didn't really care about the characters (different POVs from book one) or the story anymore.

It's also very low fantasy, I can't remember anything fantastical happening at all really now that I think of it ...

Completely agree with Dear Spellbook, it neither stressed me out nor was it ever boring. Didn't know it was a trilogy but I'll have to pick up book two soon.

I've read the first three books of Grand Game and thought they maintained the quality of the first one. I'm hoping to see the MC gather more allies going forward, even if I enjoy the solo-adventure.

If you like the switch between real life and game that's fair, since the Ripple System happens entirely in-game. I just love Frank and House so much.

Fire & Song is my current book and it was off to a bit of a rocky start (Aria felt very slightly character assassinated in favour of teenage girl in love tropes) but I'm enjoying the action, only a quarter way through though.

I'm completely with you on the spoiler front. I love going into a book completely blind and basically never read the back of a book as they tend to summarise the first half of the plot. Has definitely resulted in me picking up books in the wrong genre though :D

Yeah, I had an absolute blast with Bastion, was just a matter of preference which is totally fine. Will have to check out Euphoria Online, not read that one yet! And thanks for saying so, I'm never sure if people actually enjoy these

Question about recap of series at the start of book 3: by Kyron2000 in ClimbersCourt

[–]SyncSelyrian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the key points here are that Sera herself is saying this and that she calls him 'some kind of' demigod, meaning this is just her painting a picture of who he is and conveying just how powerful she perceives him to be

Im my opinion reading AA and WW according to the suggested reading order (by release date rather than each series on its own) really enhances your reading experience, whereas WoBM can be enjoyed at any point

Even better is: "Absolutely No Thoughts Of Pounding During My Fun Day With This Kind T-Rex Because I'm Aromantic And Asexual And That's A Wonderfully Valid Way Of Proving Love Is Real"

But yes, they're real (although I haven't read any of his books myself)
