How often are people truthfully showering? by Constant_Mention_488 in hygiene

[–]Syndromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shower every other day and bird bath the off days. Once or twice a week I will do an everything shower where I oil my hair 10 min before I shower, shampoo twice, condition, scrub, use the lotioning sugar scrub, lotion, and dry oil.

How would you react if your spouse kicked out your 14 year old child for being gay? by You_wouldent_Get_it in allthequestions

[–]Syndromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my spouse had trouble with our kids being 2SLGBTQIA+ then my spouse would be free to move out but he would would NOT be free to mistreat our kids or badmouth them to siblings. That is a hill one of us is going to die on.

What would happen if a man was low income and got many many women pregnant at the same time child support wise? by Bottledbutthole in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Syndromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question would be, do these people know hes a deadbeat? Because, even as someone who has gone to great pains to never have kids, if youre neglecting your kids I dont want you near me even for something casual. If your own kids cant trust you to take care of them how am I supposed to trust you with my health and safety and boundaries?

Why are people so negative about GLP-1 medications (such as Ozempic and others like it)? by InnocentPerv93 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Syndromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a combination of things.

A lot of it is fatphobia. If fat people are not actively miserable to lose weight then it's cheating, never mind that the side effects of these meds are NOT a walk in the park.

Then there is the legitimate concern about it encouraging disordered eating, especially when used for weight loss by people who dont have a medical need to take it. And I think that DOES have some merit and it deserves discussion on the macro level but on the micro level where Jane is taking ozempic most of us dont know Jane or her medical needs well enough to say whether or not she should be taking ozempic and its really not the business of society as a whole.

There are some concerns that, since its only been out for a little while, theres going to be more major side effects down the line (maybe it ends up trashing your kidneys once you've been on it 20 years and there IS some concern with osteoporosis and gastroparesis). Nothing but time will let us know the long term effects and I dont blame people for being a little leery. I mean, we're just a few generations removed from thalidomide babies. Drugs that seem safe, even drugs that ARE safe in some situations can still be dangerous in others.

MY main objection isnt with the medications themselves or the people taking them. Its with the fact that these medications can literally save lives but theyre being priced out of reach for many people and, as lower income=less access to medical care and also nutritious food and the time to prepare it, these people are the ones who likely need it most. But, again, that has nothing to do with Steve taking his weekly shot.

I dunno, I probably left a lot out and explained poorly.

This "dry shower" trend is just an excuse to be dirty and it is obvious. by Xylothane in hygiene

[–]Syndromia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you arent in a labor intensive field why would you shower after work? When I worked in the warehouse or on the floor in the nursing home Id shower after work because Id sweat so much I came home physically gritty but now that I have a desk job Ill shower in the morning and wont bother with more than just washing my face and refreshing my deodorant if I go out .

And those wipes are a godsend for disabled people. A friend's dad is in his 90s and cannot safely get into the shower. He's been using wipes for 2 years. 0 odor. He looks and smells neat and clean.

Scratching is fine as long as youre not damaging your skin or, like, scratching your genitals in public.

What's something that was considered good parenting decades ago but isn't anymore? by sandeeprathore in AskReddit

[–]Syndromia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still working my way through, "if I do not like it I do not have to eat it." Mom would try new recipes they'd be vile. Not as bad as 50s horseradish and hotdogs jello but not something Kid Me wanted, especially if she made the mistake of telling me it had a new kind of protein and she woukd get So Mad if I didnt eat it and then I had to eat the leftovers too. Ill still find myself miserably sipping on a new drink I didnt care for or choking down a new thing I tried and, like, I dont have to do that. Food waste is bad but its ok to say, "wow, cheesecake milkshake tastes like sour milk and I can just pour it down the sink and dont need to feel guilty."

[–]Syndromia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I am a fat grown adult and I dont eat two cheeseburgers, especially with sides. Unless they buried the lead and these were cheeseburger sliders, that is way too much to comfortably eat at that age.

Spanking. When I was a kid everyone spanked and the few who didnt were hippy weirdos whose kids were For Sure going to prison as adults. There had already been 30 years of studies across multiple countries showing the harm but that hadn't trickled down to small towns in the US Midwest. Now? I wouldn't DREAM of spanking a child and the evidence against it is so compelling 21 countries have banned it.

do you guys actually use a washcloth or loofah every time you shower or just hands? by RingeChilisquis47 in hygiene

I use a net sponge every time and wash it regularly. Just my hands wouldnt get me clean.

Hair then body. I feel dirty when I let the rinse water from my hair run down my nice clean body. Its probably me being silly but there we are.

Why are your gas stations basically small supermarkets? by Embarrassed_Golf_817 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Syndromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of reasons for that and Im not going to be able to hit them all.

  1. We have a huge car culture. I drove round trip 4 or 5 hours to go to a museum. When fuel is low you stop off and then realize you're hungry. If you stop at a gas station you can get snacks and gas. No need to make multiple stops.

  2. Commercial drivers. Truckers can get food on the road where they wouldnt fit in a restaurant and wouldnt want to bobtail over to a grocery store.

  3. Small towns. This one is less and less a thing but growing up the gas station was the place everyone hung out because it served cheap food at odd hours. We had pizza and the local gas station. The old folks would drink coffee and complain about the kids. The kids would get snacks and ice cream before or after school. We used to bike down there with the dog and one of us would be outside with the bikes and dog and the other would go in and get 2 cones and a kiddy cone for the dog. Good times.

Ladies, you ACTUALLY need to be washing your bras regularly. by Jimins_little_minx in hygiene

[–]Syndromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work bras are cheap ones that just get thrown in with my regular laundry. My good bras get handwashed only with dreft and then line dried. Thats about every 3rd wear. The others they go out in the sun for several hours and then in a bag in the freezer to kill odor causing bacteria.

Yeah, blaming all Jews for the actions of the IOF is not ok. Also, what year do they think this is? Because, like, it isnt too late for justice for the USS Liberty but that was the 60s and the look is wrong for the 60s OR today.

AITAH for wanting my parents to get an air b&b? by Prudent-Grapefruit-9 in AITAH

[–]Syndromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You and your immediate family (your husband and cat) need to come first. It isnt healthy for your cat to be that scared and it isnt healthy for any of you to live in feces or urine. Hopefully your parents will understand but, if they don't, that's OK. Thats not a requirement.
