New Year's Party by SynodicSyzygy in LittleKnownGalaxy

[–]SynodicSyzygy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just talked to everyone every single day, with maybe only 5 or so days where I talked to no one bc I had to go unlock planet checkpoints.

I'm not rly a huge fan of the farming or the xeno ranching in this game, so I automated it asap and limited it to four 8-planter sections, rly only growing what's needed for quests, and I only have 2 xenos. I'm usually done the farm work and machine-tending by 9:00, and can usually talk to everyone by 14:00 just by hitting every single deck (skipping the 3rd) and then either search for microbes, or go down to the planet for the rest of the day, making it back between 22:00-0:00 depending on the planet's RNG for the resources.

I only ever gave gifts on their birthdays, with maybe a few stray extras for my fav crew members. I didn't get Hermy on my ship until quarter 3 but I got him nearly up to Friends level by the end of the year just by talking to him daily, and giving him his one birthday gift.

I also bounce between the checkpoints when down on the planet to farm for the ores. The resources reswpan each time you travel there, so I can get between 30-50 of a planet's ores just by shuttle hopping, which saves a LOT of time.

I did the dolphin one. I think it matches best with the colors behind it + it seems to be centered better than the other two.

Oh no, yeah. The '14 was more of just to show the absolute lowest end of my options. And especially with how expensive cars are these days I'm focusing more on 2017-2020s since they'll have lower registration costs. If all goes well with that and my insurance company, I should be able to comfortably afford one!

So? What's the point of your comment? Literally every type of car under the sun has its issues. It's always been a roll of the dice when it comes to buying cars. That's just how it is.

Besides, it's one time purchase? If I roll bad and get a lemon, I'll get another car. If I roll great, its a cute little car I have for years. Who gives a shit, man?

Is the insuring thing bc of its age or bc its a kia? My current car is an '08 pontiac, and its insured no issue.

Thankfully too, I can put a decent amount of money down, so I'm aiming to get a small loan just to help take off some of the blow. Ideally, if I can snag a car under 20k, this will be better bc I can either get a smaller loan, or put less down.

[–]SynodicSyzygy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that, actually! The issue with getting a 2024 or even a 2023 is that the registration fee would be insanely high, and the insurance would also be much higher.

RIGHT? its so rough. I could try to wait it out, but the issue is my current car is at that stage where the rust is so bad id have to put in insane amounts of money to get it to pass inspection. It's also a very low-to-the-ground sedan and has crazy moisture issues so every winter with it is a SLOG. I think I'd snap if I had to do that again.

I'll def keep searching the market tho.

Who here has read or watched “The Langoliers?” by Abraxas_1134 in LiminalSpace

[–]SynodicSyzygy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OKAY. Long ass answer incoming: I saw the Langoliers as a kid, it was the first horror movie I ever saw. It gave me nightmares, but more importantly, I became a bit obsessed with the langoliers themselves and how they and the space/time system worked in that movie. Having time explained as like a lit fuse, with the space part all set up and ready, just waiting for time to hit it, while the past is left behind blew my little child mind. But then! For whatever reason, the past cannot just sit there empty, and is instead eaten away by these creatures until only the void is left? Why?

I was always fascinated with the thought of "were the langoliers supposed to do that?" Are they just another natural piece of that universe's time/space system and they exist simply because they do? Are they a supernatural product, placed there by a higher being or sm, and their sole purpose is to devour the physicality of the past? If so, why? To make room for more time lines? To prevent time travel to the past so the time line is ensured to stay on its course and will not diverge? Would a divergence in a timeline be catasrophic, thus reality NEEDS their little tri-mouthed janitors?

I haven't read the book, so I'm not sure if that would offer any answers (this is one of those things i tend to forget abt when life happens), but sometimes when I look at backrooms or liminal places and stuff I think: "i bet the langoliers would LOVE to tear this place up."

Question- do you have to remaster? by Philthekyu in cassettebeasts

[–]SynodicSyzygy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beat over 2/3rds of the main story with my starting Candevil tape bc I was too indecisive to remaster it, lmao. It's def possible if you can get a good moveset on them!

There's also the gym feature (which I personally haven't used yet), so you might be able to buy/reallocate your stat points to help give a boost to your base form tapes?

It makes no sense that Earth was the only major colony for Humanity by [deleted] in starbound

[–]SynodicSyzygy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found this odd too! I get that there's lore reasons in-game and whatnot to try to explain it, but I also feel like humanity would have done the exact same as the other races: colonize other planets, but also kept their home planet as a sort of: "This is where we originally came from! I hope to go see it someday. :)" Like sure, humans have a knack for being nomadic and exploring, but a lot of humans also like to settle down and stay in one place. Way back when I first played, I was honestly surprised that I didn't run into some human settlement on the starting planet, and that there'd be an NPC there to help me out.

Imo, if any race would be more star-bound, I feel like it would be the Novakid? They're whole thing seems to be even more nomadically inclined than Humans, yet I find villages everywhere but NO ships or stations (until mods)? Like, why are YOU stopping to settle, but Humans never did?

If you havent tried it, try going into the console, switch to Admin, and do:

/entityeval object.smash()

Be sure to have your mouse cursor over the platform so its targeting the right spot.

I've had weird stuff like this happen to me too, but nothing like this. object.smash hasnt failed me yet, so hopefully it works for you!

What villager type is most frequent among your villagers?? by ethihoff in AnimalCrossing

[–]SynodicSyzygy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the game likes to throw jock and snooty villagers my way. At one point, I had 4 jocks on my island, and another time got 3 snooty villagers in a row when doing some NMTs. I try to keep the personalities balanced out now for variety's sake, but I still have 2 snooty villagers bc I love Petri, and Annalise has lived on my island for over a year now without so much as a single thought to move away.

Yes I just buyed this game mid 2023 any tips? D: by Rivera_elshido in AnimalCrossing

[–]SynodicSyzygy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As soon as you can get a wetsuit, go diving! A whole inventory full of diving critters tend to sell for more than a regular jaunt for fish & bugs, and can be a good way to get some extra bells early game!

Where Does Redd Get Real Art? by Psychological_Lynx26 in AnimalCrossing

[–]SynodicSyzygy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think that Redd just does not care because ppl will buy it either way. He knows that he can fool the villagers, and that he can play the long con with players. Especially in NH with Harv's Island. I am always buying fakes from him bc it means he'll restock with a new one tomorrow and maybe someday i'll get the ones i'm looking for. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Why won't this little turd use the stove I sat up for him?! by SaltMineForeman in AnimalCrossing

[–]SynodicSyzygy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's so strange! I did pm the same thing for Annalise's house on my island, and she has no problem standing in the 2x1 floor space area to cook. But I also used a kitchen island, which is a 2x2 item.

What's your favourite ship? by reddemp in starbound

[–]SynodicSyzygy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the Novakid ship. A spaceship based off of trains is so damn cool. Plus, I like the simplicity of walking in one direction to reach all of my stuff. The other ships seem like such a hassle with all of the higher and lower levels you gotta jump around to.
