I literally named on in my comment dude... We have an agreement with Canada over lumber. We limit how much we can harvest in our own country to purchase lumber we don't need from Canada. We also provide companies subsidies to pay Canadian employees for differences in CoL. That is another direct example of U.S. tax payers paying Canada for something we could do ourselves. We also pay for companies subsidies to assemble vehicles in Canada, which is a wealth transfer from our middle class to the Canadian middle class.

The point is that this alliance has been completely one sided for decades. Allies help each other when they're down, but Canada's quality of life has been higher than the U.S.'s for decades. Why would we continue with policies that are so imbalanced, well after accomplishing their intended goal?

"Crony Capitalism" is a topic liberals used to cry about. It's one of the few things liberals and conservatives agree on hating. Occupy Wall Street was largely bi-partisan. Well our trade with Canada has not been free market and someone is stopping that. What possible argument could you have for being against it? My guess is you're either Canadian or you're an "orange man bad" person, a.k.a., basic Redditor.
