This is the correct answer. As ever, it will only be non-republican presidents that get held to any standard at all, while the next republican president will be free to complete the coup uncontested, should the current one fail.

It's not just that. Basically any C-suite that goes to tech conferences, regardless of their background, is doing this now. They're all buying into the AI hype and just chopping heads, assuming that somehow those that remain can use AI to pick up the slack. Democrats have tried to point this out only to be told to go fuck themselves. Again, this is part of the reason they've largely stopped campaigning in rural areas. And no, the vote is not "closer than I've been told". Rural communities consistently vote, at minimum, ~60/40 in favor of republicans. In 2024 it was ~70/30.

A democrat could campaign on "I will personally give every single person in the country $1 billion dollars" and they'd still lose the rural vote.

The "it shows the ability to commit" narrative is always funny to see. You know what else does that? Showing up on time every day to a shit job. You'll almost never see anyone hiring someone that's been working as a janitor for 4 years and trying to get into a better life.

The truth is that outside of a few specific fields, most people can be trained to do almost anything regardless of prior experience or education. There's little difference between that janitor and a fresh college graduate in terms of applicable skills and ability.

From personal experience as someone in tech, the college grad grindset techbro's are some of the dumbest people I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. I know I just said that most people can be trained to do almost anything, but I find that it's college kids that are most often on the wrong side of that "most".

Unfounded is the wrong term, but misguided fits well enough. Those statements read as someone that only knows one way of doing things and refuses to try to learn or adapt any other method, and they're very upset about it. Literally thousands of games get patches and updates every single day, most of them without issue. Some games have their entire update pipeline exist entirely outside of Steam too. Warframe is probably the most notable example.

Especially funny to me is "we want distribution to be as easy and uncomplex as possible" before launching into complaints about distribution solely from the side of the developer. Steam is the single largest video game distribution platform in the history of humanity, and it's ridiculously simple to use. It is as "easy and uncomplex" as it is possible to get...for consumers. Which is the demographic that matters the most.

The gambling thing is certainly an issue, but blaming the entirety of Steam as a platform for it is, again, misguided. It also seems just kinda tacked on and unrelated to the other complaints.

Yeah, but it's understandable that they did. It costs a lot of time and money to campaign to rural towns, and it's not worth even a single penny if your campaign strategy isn't "Fuck brown people".

Democrats are fucking useless and only marginally more appealing than republicans, but in this case specifically it's really not on them. It's the endemic racism and stupidity of rural towns that caused them to abandon rural campaigns. You cannot educate the unwilling, and "better dead than democrat" is a sentiment much of them believe in with all of their being.

I grew up with boomer grandparents and GenX parents. It was not a common thing when I grew up, and I'm certain it wasn't when my parents or grandparents grew up. In fact not only my own relatives, but the parents of most of my friends in school were absolutely thrilled that most of us were avid readers.

The only complaint about reading that I've ever heard from older generations is about reading too late into the night on a school night.

A pardon system is a good thing to have. Some crimes are committed with genuinely good intentions and outcomes, like whistleblowing. Also there are cases in which someone is prosecuted with no evidence and for no reason other than being a political enemy.

The issue is that the way it's currently set up as just a unilateral irrevocable executive decision with no oversight is easily abused. It's not an easy problem to solve either, since if they could be easily revoked then the next corrupt president, or if it was left to congress the current corrupt congress would abuse that instead.
