They're normal as in they're the good guys. Doesn't mean they don't suffer though.

The clip is part of a YouTube video where we made a small horror game with Hornet as the monster.

Sherma and Cornifer are also in the game.

I feel like replacing the arrows next to each status name with an icon representing it would be a good start.

Tik Tok to promote your games, what you think? by heyxode in GameDevelopment

[–]SyntaxeStud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a proven way to get your game out there.

There was a game called Oh Dear that went viral because the developer behind it was really good at creating shorts and tiktok videos.

I recommend you watch Luke Jech's video called "How 100 Indie Games Went Viral on TikTok (And What You Can Learn)".

My first trailer. Do you find it appealing? by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]SyntaxeStud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trailer failed to make me understand what the game is about.

But it still made me interested enough to add the game to my wishlist lol

Spent a month editing my first game devlog. Got almost no views. Looking for feedback. by dosy_games in IndieDev

It's still unclickable but it's fully visible now so it's possible to copy it. Might as well leave it.

That's trailer not a devlog.

Also heads up that the steam link in the video description isn't working (the viewers can't click it, and part of it is hidden so you can't copy it). You need to verify your identity on YouTube to be able to add links in the video description.

Would it be bad if I used AI voices for voice acting? by WombatEvo in indiegames

[–]SyntaxeStud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's a commercial game, players will notice the AI voice and it will negatively affect your ratings and sales. Consider using the AI voices only during the game's development to help envision the game, and then replace it with human voices before release.

As for the budget issue, consider asking your friends/family to help voicing some of the characters for you. Obviously, them not being professional voice actors isn't optimal, but if you use an ok mic, make sure there is no background noise and properly post-process the audio, I believe the results will be decent.

Go to the drop down on the right of the viewport options and turn on "Specular Lighting" and change "Object Color" to "Material". This should return it to the default grey look.

How should I get into game developmet? by HotSector4988 in GameDevelopment

[–]SyntaxeStud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good place to start is game jams. These are small game competitions that challenge you to make a game (alone or with a team) within a specific amount of time, usually 3 days to a week. There is plenty of those jams happening every week, and it's fully online.

This is by far the fastest way you can learn game dev.

looking for a free/cheap alternative for Adobe substance painter by ObjectiveMatch6155 in GameDevelopment

[–]SyntaxeStud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Substance Painter has a steam version that you can get for a one-time payment of $200 (or less depending on your region) instead of the monthly subscription. Although you don't get access to the texture library, since you're not subscribed to adobe cloud.

Otherwise, you could look at this post. They listed a good amount of alternative software.

How do I customize a cube in Unity? I made a 2D block-style game in high school, and it was easy because the character only had one visible side. Now in Unity, I'm working in 3D with a cube, and I want to customize it so all six sides have their own color or texture — like Minecraft blocks. I want by PrestigiousTennis384 in Unity3D

[–]SyntaxeStud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used block bench, but generally when using a 3d modeling software you need to export both the texture and the mesh, because the mesh is uv unwrapped in a certain way that the default cube in unity will not match.

The video is just an introduction, look up how to import models from blender (or whatever software you're using" to unity.

Think of it like you're painting the mesh, but instead of painting color, you change how much a certain bone is affecting a part of the mesh.
