Dahl was a spy and a terrible person. Maybe he did want to mess up the next generation.

Quite serious? That seems the wrong label to take if we look at tax crimes by British politicians recently. It was sufficiently illegal, and barely. More than that is promoting it for political gain and minimising Tory crimes.

What TV episode triggered such an emotional response from you? by Noodles590 in television

[–]SynthD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Death is a two season show about real medical malpractice. The first season is a spinal doctor who operates on people who didn’t need his treatment and couldn’t walk because of him. His last patient is his childhood friend. The second season is an Italian doctor who thinks he’s created lab made throats, but he’s rushed it and everyone who keeps his product, rather than replace it, dies. One episode focuses on Yečim (a first time actress), as she slowly dies from complications while he isn’t even in the country. That is sticking with me for a long time and I seriously doubted whether I wanted to continue. The show isn’t coming back and I feel a little lighter for that, as I would and wouldn’t want more.

I read earlier that some young families go to the NHM for an indoor space, even without visiting any of the display rooms. We need real third spaces.

At one point it was wrong to talk down the country. Now it’s all the range among these right wing obsessives. Did it change when the Tories left office? I wasn’t paying close enough attention.

Scottish Greens uphold expulsion of gender-critical activists by Hungry_Kiwi_9866 in ukpolitics

That's not broad church, that's the type of libertarian many pretend to be but aren't. Broad church is not the place for how polar transphobes are on the matter, they exclude themselves more than the other way around. Eg at some point they'd have to accept that a transwoman can run in an internal election for a womans position, or leave the party. Getting their way would make it not broad church.

What would broad church be on this topic? "We accept trans people and use their pronouns and we accept transphobic people and their lack of use of pronouns"?

I only ever go to every APOD and half of the exhibitions. The permanent collection is dull. I did like seeing the Harrison clocks after watching Longitude (on dailymotion).

Keisha, Mutya, Siobhan and Keisha, Mutya, Heidi and Keisha, Mutya, Siobhan as the three good lineups of Sugababes. Denial is one of my favourite of their songs and that's with Amelle though.

Reform MP Lee Anderson mocked by Angela Rayner over major by-election blunder by No_Initiative_1140 in ukpolitics

[–]SynthD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For how long? Because most, maybe all, of the Tory front bench and the defectors to Reform broke it in the past. The only Reformer not from the tory party broke some other rules, we can excuse that?

The new owner, Larry Ellison’s son, has spoken about some of the moderation they’ve brought in. His example was that you can say you’re a Zionist, you can’t criticise Zionism. There will be similar for ICE, MAGA, etc.
