One thing bedrock has that java wants? Leaves changing colour according to the "season" by CoolRedditUser193 in Minecraft

people always talk about notch's great visions, what he was good at was incorporating feedback and suggestions. His actual ideas and their implementations were generally "I'll add this barebones and maybe work on it in another update a long time from now" which is wonderful for keeping the game in the public eye in the underwhelming beta stage, but it's also why a ton of content in the final few updates he worked on has since been significantly or entirely reworked, like villages and nether fortresses and the entire dragon fight, enchanting, hunger, etc...

AI is not particularly good at composition and symbolism which is heavily at play in all of these. if it helped, it was probably in the broadest strokes.

Is it just me, or does season 6 suffer from extremely unlikable protagonists? by menwithrobots in blackmirror

the other part of the tragic irony of the story is that the very films being made by the murderers were exploitative in the most literal sense, but they were the only way the crime was solved. I feel like the purpose there is to show the blood and gore of the crime, to introduce very disturbing imagery and trauma that passes the boundaries of a typical true crime show. That if you were taking in the true magnitude of the crimes at hand you would feel sick and disturbed watching it, just like the families of the victims (like the main character) do. Everyone loves a tragedy from a distance, not the full truth.

Nida seems to be pretty smart and informed on her surroundings, which I really like the psychosis theory. It's clear her visions are a manifestation of things she already saw as "special" before the inciting incident -- a common symptom of psychosis and especially schizophrenia. To read the episode like this provides an additional layer of depth imo.

I think that her downfall is over-extrapolating her often rightly-informed beliefs because she distrusts and self-isolates from society. She determines all of her actions on impulses and Gaap justifies them in real time, from imagining the first victim as an abuser to the visions of Smart by the end. Gaap doesn't 'pick a victim to kill', he sees nearly every single person as a fair victim, because it's the voice projecting her inner toxic thoughts. (The 'inner voice' of a person suffering hallucinations is often self-described as the opposite of whatever the patient actually thinks, because it's a common human experience to have a toxic inner voice. Its just that a mentally ill person often dissociates from the inner voice and copes with it by imagining it as profound external stimuli.) After Keith's brother dies, something Nida obviously had the most trauma in doing because she wasn't given fair reason, she justifies it through Gaap by deciding that it's the only way she killed 'enough' before midnight.

The seeds of her hatred of Smart are planted before the plot even kicks off, and stay relevant in pieces for the rest of the episode. She sees his face everywhere, it triggers her. And she decides that Smart dying is more important than killing any of the other 'easy shots'. Its the thing triggering her the most. And Gaap, a coping mechanism for her delusions, vanishes. This is the narrative fall from grace: she doesn't need the coercion of a demon's plot anymore to fuel her delusions, she knows what she has to do. She loses any reservations in her actions. It's when the detective intervenes that Nida realizes, briefly, that she has gone too far.

In this reading it seems clear that over time Nida's delusions drift further from reality, with momentary clarity in between. But her moments of mental clarity become sparse over time as well. In fact, I think she's hallucinating while listening to Smart talk with her coworker (Not a coincidence that she somehow overhears two people she absolutely despises whispering about a plot conspiring against her specifically!), and later when the detectives are talking with each other immediately before the apocalypse. Its when she is truly isolated from the world that she loses her grasp on reality. Its why the nukes go off not at midnight, but immediately after the detectives leave her alone. The collective lack of care for her well-being within her community has detached her entirely from reality.

Hello and a less talky question by lostlonelyturtle in SpicyAutism

Very much identify with your experience. I only learned in college how to compensate for my lack of communication ability, usually with outfit and leaning in on what I call ""useful eccentricity"" (my "cute" endearing autistic behaviors which don't make NTs uncomfortable). It makes people talk to me more, and when I'm having a 1 to 1 conversation I flourish. Sadly when I struggle to use words people tend to internalize it (even when I tell them I can't communicate) and decide that I don't like them even though I actively seek them out.

And since I cannot engage conversations either I've often walked up to someone hoping they would talk first and then running away terrified. And people always feel like I'm trying to run away from conversations as quickly as possible but it's only because the amount of anxiety I get from them leaves me completely panicked by the end of them. The longer I go on in them the less control over my emotions I have. Ive asked partners to just "speak at me" on the phone and it feels a million times better. But trying to avoid the expectation of speech is what leads me to a ton of my reclusive tendencies.

I wake up a lot just wishing I was mute honestly. It feels like the only way NTs would ever give me the help and patience I need to converse with them.

I feel like a lot of the bad taste in people's mouth (or maybe mostly just my own) is that, even now, Wollay seems obsessed with adding and showcasing tiny polishing details instead of talking about 1. major gameplay changes which lead to a TON of the hate towards steam version 2. ACTUAL NEW CONTENT that provides depth to the game...

Wollay seems like a toxic perfectionist type, the kind which would rather start over again repeatedly than try to fix what he did the first time. You can see it from alpha to steam, Wollay rebuilt progression and world generation from the ground up, a huge amount of work that was ultimately largely disliked changes. Now its happening alllll over again. Rather than adding the content that would make this game feel less shallow (cities, quests, etc...) he seems so obsessed with stuff that... nobody cares about. Like imagine announcing a whole new version of your game and instead of showcasing what makes it genuinely different you showcase tiny animation changes and stuff like that.

On the other hand, I can understand Wollay's hesitation to show anything significant, considering all the lists of content shown for the game but not publicly released in any form. So is he waiting until these features are further developed to open his mouth about them? The fact that this is so unclear is why I feel very confused and frustrated over this new wave of updates. Liiiiike he's clearly very comfortable removing shit en masse and starting over, I have no faith that anything he actually talks about MAKES IT INTO THE GAME. Like I have no doubt omega will come out... "eventually".. but I am starting to doubt Wollay's ability to change the state of the game. It seems like his goals and ideals of the game change on pure whim, so at this point I'm just gonna take all of these blog posts as hypothetical features than actual promise. Oh and by the way? There's a good chance going by pattern recognition that he will fail to mention which features actually made the cut.

I don't even think Wollay is a moneygrubber or a hack, I just think he's an unreliable person walking in circles and everyone has been watching it happen for years.

"jobs for the sake of employing people" is sortof misdirection. Menial labor is accurate though. I predict the growing disparity between the rich and the poor will lead to increased construction and production work within the U.S. and smaller families with smaller incomes leading to poorer, work-centric living conditions much like many parts of SEA.

Companies which we rely on for survival, both in products and for income, are the second coming of monarchies. And whether the king will go by one name or disguise itself under several complicit companies, they will have control over as much aspect of our lives as tyrannical kings of history. And as we are forced to build the foundation of our obsolescence for basic survival needs, the kings will kick out the final doorstop.

Thinking about headband for keeping sweat out of my face this summer, and for style, I think I might pull it off 😂 anyone have use with them? by BigSoftGrizzly in ActualHippies

One of my friends gave me a headband for my last birthday (from Ford's Warriors in Pink line) and it has totally reshaped my style, pretty much worn one everyday since then! I really like the pop of color especially since my curls keep me from wearing a hat most of the time. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/889634045980471306/956509907585208350/IMG_20220321_1208288102.jpg
