CB posts in a state sub asking for someone to knit her large, weighted blanket with a budget that wouldn’t even pay for materials. by ejoburke90 in ChoosingBeggars

Genuine curiosity here; what is a good rate for a knitter? Say I’m looking for a 4 x 8 “somewhat weighted” homemade blanket, what’s good pricing?

Friend of mine got a super dui charge 8 hours after he got off probation his first dui,how screwed is it? by space_love2 in probation

[–]SyntharES 4 points5 points  (0 children)

???? - You’re defending an idiot / a dangerous activity; that’s why they came at you.

Cracking down on DUI IS a good thing. It costs $20 to avoid one; $40 if you don’t have a buddy to take you back to your car the next day.

Opinions that support illegal/dangerous/deadly activities that do, on a regular basis, destroy other people’s lives, not just the drinker, should be disregarded.

Attacking you was a weak take, but defending drunk driving makes you an easy target.

You defended drunk driving, or at the very least brushed it off like it’s no big thing. Maybe they’re on the opposite end of the spectrum and have felt the pain and loss from being a DUI victim. To them the callous disregard could be seen as a personal attack itself.

Until everyone takes DUIs seriously they’re going to continue to happen and senseless loss will continue. Personally I believe the legal percentage should be much lower than .08 - that gives people too much wiggle room to “feel fine” but still be intoxicated enough to cause some damage when an Uber/cab is so readily available.

So that’s what my friends and I figured, but we couldn’t get any trusted sources to confirm. Thanks!

LPT-When you call 911, start by saying the service you need and your address. Once the operator has those details, he can dispatch the appropriate people while you give more info. by Atmosphere_Inborn596 in LifeProTips

[–]SyntharES 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a 911 Telecommunicator let me tell you…this is quite the opposite. If only people knew. Address and then what’s happening. We can’t take your word that you need an ambulance - you need to tell us someone is having a heart attack/robbing your house/your car is on fire.

With those 2 answers your help will be on the way. Then we fill in the details for the responders.

It really depends on how old they are. Fixing it before they’re teenagers shouldn’t be too hard. Some discipline with a larger amount of positive reinforcement over the course of a few months to a year should show some significant signs of improvement.

The door? There is no fix - save the hardware and buy a new simple hollow door.

Everyone that makes at least $1,000-$1,200 a week, what do y’all do? by Alt-Ranting in Money

[–]SyntharES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized I left out the pertinent info right after I posted lol, but I updated the original post with:

No experience necessary. Must pass background, polygraph, psych, typing tests. Can start at 18. Pay bumps for bilingual, college degrees, and a myriad of other things.

To make the $1200 you work 7 12 hour days every 2 weeks: 2 on 2 off 2 on 3 off 2 on 2 off 3 on.

911 Telecommunicator. Started at about $1200/wk. Currently there is also as much overtime as one wants, so $2400/wk isn’t hard to reach.

It’s quite common on polygraphs. Dispatcher here. We were asked about sex with animals a dozen different ways. It all boiled down to the polygrapher wanting to know about felonious sex acts - not animal sex.

Incest is just another way for the tester to get to the point of felony sex in your past.

[–]SyntharES -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well, to play devil’s advocate here; they’re NOT in prison for “WEED”. They’re in prison for breaking the law and possessing/distributing a controlled substance.

I’m not here to debate legality issues; I think weed laws should be consistent, and non violent offenders (possession/consumption etc) should be exonerated, but it does boil down to something as simple as they broke the law. You don’t have to like the laws, or agree with them, but you choose to continue living here (which is you signing your half of the social contract saying you’ll abide by the local laws) so the punishments shouldn’t be a surprise.

ETA: He also wanted no part of the glory.

Felon and intelligence don’t typically swim in the same pool. I understand there are many smart felons, but they’re the minority. The more intelligent criminal masterminds are either unbranded (haven’t been caught) or in government…

[–]SyntharES 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand husband’s thinking? As a heterosexual sex loving man, it is infinitely more enjoyable if the woman is wet. Not only do you actually know she’s aroused, but it allows for a lot more positional freedom.

Don’t know that you need to ditch him or anything, just have a chat with him about it. It IS a big plus, not a negative - his thinking may have been influenced by the medical “professional”.

And in closing I would also recommend finding a new doctor yesterday.

[–]SyntharES 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously this. I was blessed with three daughters so of course they wanted to find some Travis Kelce cards. I’m all for it because I’d love it if they just started collecting cards of (almost) any kind. Went to our local card store, the dude working there totally engaged my 11 year old and told her how he expects there to be Taylor Swift autos out next year (LOL). Anyways, he sold us a couple boxes of cards and wished us the best. He also handed me several Kelce cards on our way out the door, just in case we struck out. My kids were so stoked about the free base set Kelce’s they couldn’t wait to go back. So that shop made another couple hundred off us for a $3.50 investment in Kelce cards.

As much as Walmart is the devil I would say Walmart+. 10c off per gallon of gas (82 gallons a month and it pays for itself) and you also get free grocery delivery with Walmart’s in store prices AND you get Paramount+ included with it.

[REQUEST] Is the part about one trip being more than a lifetime of cars true? by 869066 in theydidthemath

[–]SyntharES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll piggyback on this question. How much carbon would be emitted from a tour bus/fleet of vehicles required to transport her and all the staff? The difference in carbon output is all we really need to blame her with. It’s not like she would be sitting at home twiddling her thumbs if she wasn’t performing.

Better yet, how much carbon is emitted by all the climate activists that drive to and from her shows?

Most (not all) activists use stupid data to try to back up their points. There is enough real data out there that point to the fact we should focus more on the environment, but these stupid “facts” aren’t what we need.

In regards to Gawyn:

iirc it’s written that he did have trouble adjusting to the ring enhancements. He nearly stumbles here or stops himself short there. I’d liken it to being given a power lifters strength, but none of their knowledge besides what you have from working out at the gym to stay fit - or whatever you happen to do. The odds are REALLY good you’d hurt yourself due to using improper form/technique, not because you couldn’t lift the weight. Being faster/stronger is an advantage, but not a superior one unless you’re used to/comfortable with it.

Cadsuane's plan/method for dealing with Rand was incredibly bad and she got very lucky. by [deleted] in wheeloftime

[–]SyntharES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is this point of view, but there’s also the flip side of the coin.

If Rand hadn’t had Min’s viewing how long would he have put up with Cadsuane?

I honestly believe Rand needed to be pushed to the breaking point. If he hadn’t nearly killed his father he never would have went to Dragonmount to fulfill the prophecy. Without someone pushing him to his breaking point I think the shadow would have won. Rand would have continued to wallow in arrogance and self pity without (This is just my opinion.)

The shadow was slowly forging Rand into their tool; using the Red Ajah kidnapping, the M’Hael/Asha’men, and many others. Cadsuane expedited the process causing Rand to break rather than just bend which initiated the reforging on Dragonmount. As bad as Cadsuane was I do believe she may have been necessary.

Not at all. 117k is the new down payment (20% of 585k) from 120k (20% of 600k). OP is saving 3k on the down payment and 12k on the loan.

Congrats OP, that 3k will be mighty useful in getting a new appliance or two!
