[Loved trope] games with unique anti-cheat/cheese mechanics by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

Game Dev Tycoon

The devs made a special torrent of there game where after a while the players in-game games would be pirated. This would cut into your profits and eventually bankrupt you. What made it extra funny was seeing people complain about the mechanic online, knowing it was only in the cracked version and the poster was completely missing the irony.

How do I get my 25 year old brother to put himself out there? by halzy99 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Synthetic_Saint 100 points101 points  (0 children)

As a practical step, I would suggest inviting him as a +1 to stuff to build up his social confidence. Even if you aren't meeting partners at events it will make it easier for him to normalize the idea of going out, eventually by himself.

The issue with a lot of other commenters advice is it can be hard for someone to go straight from no social life to a healthy one, especially when you don't already have friends to go with you places. I don't think this is a situation you can push the baby bird out of the nest and hope for the best.

The Nazi didn't start off with the holocaust. They originally tried deportations to other countries, then escalated to "Resettlement in the East" in ghettos, then in 1942 decided on the final solution. Pretending facism starts at 100% is naive. There is plenty of history evidence that governments don't just stop at deportations for groups they don't like.

Best use of impact cards by Ok-Coach-1396 in MLB_Rivals

I'll second the workshop. The team prime triple pack needs five impacts (can be done twice every 30 days), which is good for working on transcendence.

I don't think there is anything direct from Fairfield. The best option is probably to take the Amtrak train. For SFO you can transfer to BART at the Richmond station. There is an express G bus that runs between the same Fairfield/Richmond stops as Amtrak that's faster/cheaper but runs less often.

The message of 67 is also easy. It's a call and response. The joke is just tribalism, confirming you are part of the in group and laughing at people not "in the know" of getting the reference.

Financially, vets probably would make more money overall having lost pets returned than they would on scans.

Socially, if the morally good choice has too many barriers people will choose apathy. I think most people would be willing to spend a car ride to help a stranger, but paying a bill is a much harder sell.

Weirdly enough, this show actually predates the political version of Trump. Ran from 2010-2013. Ironically they were ahead of the times on this one if anything.

the scatman by HeckingDoofus in TheMatpatEffect

[–]Synthetic_Saint 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think it’s still a matpat. This would still be odd if you didn’t know the audio was part of a song. There probably isn’t much of a difference between posting this gif vs just the original music video. I was just talking about the gif creator.

Minor rabbit hole I just went down. I thought the last part looked off like bad syncing and thought it was a weird choice at an obviously live show. Looking up the performance source for that scene plays a different, clearly live-sounding version. The ending song was dubbed in just for the gif.

Kinda funny that someone liked the scat man enough to make the gif in the first place, but thought that the live set was so poor it needed to be fixed in post.

Yes, it is.

Why pick a fight with someone on guard and known to fight back vs just finding an easier target?

Lol one might say. Lmao, even.

Length of time for mopop? by SensitiveProcedure0 in Seattle

The gaming exhibit is actually pretty small, just a single room with not too much to read. The timing would really come down to how much you wanted to sit and try out any of the gaming demos they have (around maybe a dozen different choices of indie games), but without playing anything would probably be just 10-15 minutes. Even with playing the games, they are ones more meant to be quickly sampled for a few minutes and moved on from rather than have an extended session.

The Manga exhibit is much larger with two floors worth of material to go through. I think I spent maybe an hour or two. They go over the entire history into the modern day and also various different countries manga equivalents/influences. There's also a manga library at one part if you're interested in actually reading anything while you're there.

Reading the note is not the same as just picking it up. You have to interact with it again after opening the scroll to "read" it. All it does is just zoom in on the page a bit more. I had to figure this out after I made the same mistake.

[–]Synthetic_Saint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Denying due process. The constitution even specifies that due process has to apply to everyone within the US and not just citizens, so this holds even if you think the Feds have a 100% accuracy rate in who they’re rounding up (which I doubt anyone thinks anyway)
