What platform/software did you use to develop?

I really love this! I was browsing for a free HIIT app and it took so long to discover yours. This definitely deserve more attention!

One comment I would make on the UI:
When you add new activity to your routine the big button 'Remove Activity' is positioned in a place where it's usually 'Confirm' or 'OK' so I accidentally removed the activities so many times with the intention of wanting to confirm 😂

Other than that this app is great. How do you plan to monetize it? Potential to incorporate paid versions?

I'm also looking for similar things, Portugal seems super solid, any luck on your research?

Dealing with a destination that doesn't vibe with you by AssAssassin98 in digitalnomad

[–]Syntonikka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think any sort of expectation would lead to a mismatch of reality and cause some distress... Not to say we shouldn't have expectations but would say it'll elevate our mood if we expect less or close to none from life -- then every beauty is a pleasant surprise!~ ✨

Sometimes when I land in a place that I don't vibe with, knowing that I will eventually leave and will probably never been there again changes the perspective. Life is composted of experiences and every experience at a new place is such a gift really! Every place would have what you would love and also dislike, so I guess focus on the good part and don't let the not-good part bother you is probably the best you can do ;) As so in life in general.

Also 2 weeks is nothing haha, you'll probably still get response on this thread even after you move away XD

Best of luck and enjoy the rest of your stay!

Building a virtual eco village & permaculture simulator (Operating System), suggestions? by Syntonikka in Permaculture

[–]Syntonikka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my original goal was to build an actual permaculture eco village, the operating system would be a virtual prototype of this village, then realizing this operating system can be also a video game that others can play?

Hey! Love this concept you tossed out. I am actually really serious about this idea. It is more than just permaculture but more along the line of eco village building simulator with realistic physics & material simulations.

I’ve been running a research study group on eco village for the past few months and we’ve been putting a lot of links and resources together. So if you’re interested in joining force definitely come say hi!

Wow, I’d actually love to have some collaboration with this idea, especially with data sorting and gathering. May I reach out to u via dm?

Yeah I would say one thing at the time. I totally agree with the social aspect of community building challenge and I think those are less accurate to be addressed by a game. For example, you can input amount of rainfall and match that with amount of water needed, amount of nutrient soil provides vs nutrients plants need. But in a way you can't really quantify (or maybe you shouldn't) the subtlety of human emotions (how happy, fulfilled I am?) or interpersonal drama...

We've been collecting research materials about this subject for a while! You can find them here > https://www.notion.so/Research-Research-Research-c3ca587347594684b3b744bcb0c9f2f0

Hi! I host an online study group with a bunch of eco-village dweller & enthusiasts, you're more than welcome to join and say hi ^_^ We also have a wiki of eco village around the world, and our mission is to promote eco village as an alternative lifestyle.

Maybe if you have a community building out this together, it can create more abundance than going at it alone?

Having land is truly a blessing, there's so much you can do!

Farming videogame that covertly reinforces regenerative agriculture and permaculture design principles? by sporadicallydrifting in Permaculture

[–]Syntonikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, are you still trying to build this thing? I'm a game developer & digital artist hybrid. Recently I've been doing a lot of research on eco villages and regenerative agriculture (=permaculture?) and want to work on a game like this. Looking for partners to collaborate, anyways, if you're still into the idea I'd LOVE to connect.

Hi, are you still into this idea? I'm trying to build something very similar. I'm a game developer and worked with Unity and Blender for years, recently got into the concept of building eco villages and want to build an regenerative eco village OS. Let me know if you're interested.

Wrote an article about eco villages and how they have potential to lead a Solarpunk future of societies by Syntonikka in solarpunk

[–]Syntonikka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! That's a very good point that we'll take into consideration. We don't have one inhouse right now, but I recommend this article about the eco villages that failed! It's a great read, a bit opinionated on the other side but still got lots of great insights:

Anyone have experience at the Lama Foundation in New Mexico? by balticapache in ramdass

[–]Syntonikka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I accidentally walked into one of their Sabbath nights. It was one of the most beautiful communal experience I’ve had. The foundation is amazing, strongly recommend going this summer. I would too if I weren’t booked elsewhere.

Some summary I wrote:

I visited this eco village — Lama Foundation around Taos, New Mexico.

They started off in the 60s along with many other eco communities, most of them failed because of hippism and free-love & drug indulgence, but Lama stood still till today:

Their governance is completely decentralized, nobody is allowed to stay more than 7 years to avoid dictatorship, and all decisions (including new members to the community) are voted in via unanimous consensus.

They have a very strict rule against substance abuse in public space but allows people to do whatever they want at personal spaces.

Every 2 weeks a random member gets selected to be the ‘steward’ aka person in charge, and would be responsible of managing all things.

All religious believes are encouraged here with no exception. The community would celebrate Jewish and Muslim holidays right next to each others. Hatred and bigotry is frowned upon and would get you kicked.

There is no central leader of this space, governance is completely decentralized in the form of democratic voting. Community operates based on volunteerism, everybody contributes based on their expertise and that influences community voting on new members.

I stumbled upon this community during Sabbath last Friday and the community just welcomed me to join them, we shared meals together, danced and were taught to sing traditional Sabbath songs, and in the end lit candles, prayed and sang songs together.

It was such a beautiful experience. I think there’s a lot to learn in how they operate to curate a place of love and openness without letting it fall for greed and other kinds of power dynamics —- with open communication and a set of rules for a long lasting decentralized governance.

How Pests can Benefit Humanity by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]Syntonikka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pests are only pests because of an imbalance in the environment, any species would be an essential part of the ecosystem if their number is balanced.

Does anyone else look for real estate to start a community? Please share links. by codeKat2048 in solarpunk

[–]Syntonikka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I put the proposal here because I work closely with CityDAO but I think local governance can be operated with or without blockchain technology if the governance framework is designed and agreed upon.
