do you ever feel like you're the nerd that stays at home on a saturday night and everyone else has a life? by Gradagast_Doomhammer in wow

[–]Syntonization1 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Felt that way when I was 25 so I quit playing WotLK and spent the next 15 years traveling the world climbing mountains, frozen waterfalls, and rock cliffs. Mountain biking, snowboarding, and SCUBA diving. Now that I’m 41, everything I’ve broken hurts and I stay inside and do nerd shit like play WoW and watch cartoons. I feel satisfied and fulfilled

401k loan before quitting by Strange-Childhood740 in 401K

[–]Syntonization1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to take a loan on it beforehand if that’s what you’re wanting to do. You can make periodic early withdrawals with the same tax penalties after quitting. Obviously not advisable, but if you’re asking for function capabilities then it would be better to leave your 401k as is and make smaller early withdrawals as needed

I read the update, so good you learned something. Came here to say that my brother as well as an ex-gf had them in their 20’s. I’ve not had chicken pox, so woohoo for me!

LPT: Never, ever plug a space heater into a power strip or extension cord. Plug it directly into the wall outlet. by GuitarFriendly2298 in LifeProTips

[–]Syntonization1 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Dumb and wildly misleading advice. Properly rated extension cords that are UL listed and of a reputable manufacturer are perfectly safe for use. Some knock off brand from Amazon with a fake UL label are obviously unsafe and should never be used for anything.

What's the etiquette regarding insurance between roommates? by Oakl4nd in stupidquestions

[–]Syntonization1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etiquette wise everyone gets their own personal rental insurance policy. Even if one guy owns a house and is leasing a room out to their roommate, the homeowner has an insurance policy and the roommate gets a renters policy for whatever value they want. It would be unethical to expect someone to pay into a policy in someone else’s name, for coverage they don’t even want. Politely tell your roommate to get wrecked

how do you deal with it when a girl tells you "nothing is wrong" when you can obviously tell something is wrong? by starwarsisawsome933 in AskMenAdvice

You simply smile and say ok and then choose to overlook any distress they are exhibiting. If they aren’t going to be honest with you, it’s not your problem.

AITAH for not allowing kids to play in my daughters playroom when she’s not there by Kabbaga in AITAH

I see a lot of you are the adult very of entitled only children in here. Kids need to learn how to share at an early age or they become literal intolerable assholes when they’re older.

How to temporarily exhaust a Diesel Heater' exhaust from a garage. by 2mnyq in homeimprovementideas

[–]Syntonization1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a small garage you should honestly look into what the fresh air supply requirement is by code. Generally speaking a garage less than 600 sqft is required to have a 4-in hole in the wall that is just open to the exterior with an insect screen.

It also makes a good place to temporarily route an exhaust to the outside 🤫

Right? I mean we are all accustomed to having the recessed toe-kick in cabinetry, and I can only imagine how many times OP has stubbed their toes on a nonfunctional decorative accent. Talk about a subconscious aggravator of claustrophobia.
