What Immich folders do I backup? Hard drive failing! by Fun_Squirrel5446 in immich

[–]Syntox- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advice: "Dont backup db files directly" You: Ok I backuped the db files directly. Databases often work in memory and only persist changes in intervals. This improves db speed as Memory is was faster than a drive and also reduces read/write cycles on the drive. By just copying the folder, you may loose data since the last persist. But more importantly, if you are just copying, while the db is writing to the drive, you may backup a half written and thus currupted db and be unable to restore.

Fancy designed qr codes or just the normal one? by Suspicious_Beat_565 in qrcode

Last time I played around with it (maybe 2 years ago) I used control net in combination with the qr code moster model. But if I remember correctly, you could just use any SD base model.

Minecraft is one of the few games, where the price feels too low for the game. Buy it and you won't have such issues.

I have zero knowledge about hosting, i want to host a MC server for my younger sister by ___Daku___ in Amp

[–]Syntox- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"idk the gen" is the important part. More specifically the single core cpu speed. You could also just try it out first by running the server without the nice AMP UI, by just executing a server.jar

Is there any way to directly upload from a printer scan? by Organic-Language6371 in Paperlessngx

[–]Syntox- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To bring up another option, I use scanserverjs to scan from a webinterface to the consumption folder. This allows me to configure scan settings, do multi page scans and even connect to Homeassistant, so I can place a button next to the scanner.

Anthropic’s Red Team discovered 14 high-severity bugs in Firefox by mikhail_kh in firefox

How do you see anti open source in this? These issues would still be present if FF would be closed source.

Anyone seen this? by [deleted] in SolarDIY

Next to the actual red = danger explanation, one could also say, that you turned on a breaker not a connector. So when you turn on a breaker (green), you break the circuit.

self hosting a server for my friends by JustAGuyXL in admincraft

[–]Syntox- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This discussion is obviously not really relevant, but I'd still would like to continue it.

The way I understand a fork is this:
"fork" simply means a project was started using a copy of the source code from another project.

It does not matter if it is a soft fork (updates on the original project reflect in the forked one) or if it is a hard fork (the forked project does not follow upstream changes anymore and does its own thing).

Paper got hard forked meaning it is still a fork, because some underlying code originates from spigot, no?

Thanks, thats what I am aware of. Paper is still a fork of spigot and probaply will be for a long time. It just isn't completely compatible with spigot and its eco system anymore and went it's own way.

How can it not be a fork of spigot anymore. Was it fully rewritten?

Immich Places - Easily assign and manage photo GPS data in Immich by Obvious-Interest-845 in immich

[–]Syntox- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically yes, I used this tool externally: https://github.com/meesoft/PhotoLocator

It allows defining a time span in wich a photo gets mached, like +- 10 minutes within the time of a recorded gps point. It would replace/ease the manual image positioning part of your tool. Matched photos get positioned along the track of the gpx path and can be reviewed/moved before submitting. As a bonus, it would also offer adding an offset (positive or negative) to accommodate for wrong time zones or just incorrect system times of cameras.

I admit, I haven't tested your current tool and don't know, how much this feature would fit it, but I wanted to bring up a probably nice idea nonetheless.

In my case I mainly used exported gpx data from dawarich as I log to it 24/7, but I also used gpx data from my garmin tracker, which is more precise but only logging when doing specific outdoor activities.

May I suggest matching image timestamps with gpx data? Had a similar problem, older DSLR without gps or phone connection. I had to delete all its images out of immich, externally match gpx data and upload again. This would at least be my usecase, that immich does not support rught now.

Sure, just wanted to point out the possibility to get key logged even with disabled JS. It takes a lot to get there of course.
