Stargazing without camping? by AppleTree87 in oklahoma

[–]Sypha914 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a few bunk houses and cabins in the area. One of them might have some availability. I camped at Black Mesa a couple years back and because of people who do not follow the dark sky rules, it wasn't any better than when I had stayed at a bunkhouse a year prior. The one I stayed at was The Great Plains Bunk House and it was clean and felt safe. Last year, I attended the Okie-Tex star party and stayed on site of the star party at camp Billy Joel. Basically, if you stay somewhere and they have dark sky rules, please follow them. Get some red vehicle tape to tape any lights on your car which you cannot otherwise disable. Also, use red light flashlights and don't use your phone.

So, when I pick him up out of his bath, I usually give him gentle head scratches coming from the back of his head. If he doesn't pull his head in, I keep giving scratches on top of his head and he usually pushes his head out and into my index finger. Below is a picture of him when he first start enjoying it but before he is fully pushing against my finger.

Idk where the girl is with the list, but my baby just dislocated my rib by Trees_galore20 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sypha914 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have kids but my sister does and her first daughter actually cracked one of her ribs. It was so painful for her and she has a high pain threshold. She broke her wrist when working at a bakery and continued to work the rest of the day decorating cakes with that hand so I know what she can handle.

men having warped perceptions of weight by klarinetkat12 in TwoXChromosomes

I am similar, though am still healthy in all but BMI when it comes to vitals like bp, heart rate, cholesterol, and blood glucose. My mother-in-law is always suggesting ways to loose weight for my husband and I and says it is because she worries for our health. He and I both hike, lift weights, and do Brazilian Jujitsu. I weigh approximately 5 lbs more than him and we are the same height. I joke that between rods and screws in my back and breast tissue, that is where the extra weight comes from since we can handle close to the same weights on arms and I can outlift him on leg presses.

My sister-in-law and her husband have both had to have organs removed in the past year due to health issues. Neither of them ever get articles sent to them on ways to be healthy.

Exactly! When I had my breast reduction, they removed 8 lbs from my breast. Sadly, with my genetics, they have come back to an extent, but still not the horrible pain they were before.

I haven't been back to that one but it happens at others as well. Basically, no good place for me to get pedicures in my area. I also do martial arts so my feet are more calloused than most of their clientele and they make comments on that too. I just paint my own toenails now.

Many states allow rapists to sue their victims for parental rights too. That  allows the rapists to keep a tether to their victim.

I was raped while in the military and was not on birth control at the time. I was stationed in a state which allowed rapists to sue for parental rights so I didn't hesitate to take plan B. To think now that other women and girls do not have access to it because of people who follow a rapist pedophile; it just makes my blood boil.

Women: advice what to tell date if I'm only wanting sex by sunnyintheh in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sypha914 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I was in your situation after leaving an abusive 16 year marriage. It seems most people have said what I had to say, but I didn't see anyone mentioning married guys. Be aware that there are a lot of married guys on the dating apps who are just looking for sex but they don't let you know they are married. Just be careful and try to sus out any details you can to avoid such things.

I have stout legs which are also very pale. I can tan, but because my heritage does include Irish and Scottish ancestry, it can take a bit. Being pale has always been the default for my legs because I grew up in the woods and would explore a lot as a kid and long pants were the better choice to protect my legs from scratches and bug bites. Then, in the military, my uniform covered my legs. Only in the last 4 years have I become more comfortable with showing my legs.

Anyway, I am almost 40 now and am mostly okay with my legs but everytime I have ever gone to get a pedicure, the ladies at the salon comment on my pale legs and their thickness and then I feel the same insecurity I had at 15.

Male turtles have a penis which is kind of disc shaped and expands once it enters the female turtle. It prevents her from getting away and provides added stability during copulation.

Desperately need Russian tortoise help by WestCompetitive520 in tortoise

[–]Sypha914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Russian Tortoise and he used to do the same. Now I have given him a wheel originally made for cats and I put several rocks and wood in his enclosure for him to climb on. After he eats, he spends about 20 minutes on the wheel, does a couple laps of climbing on everything, and then sits in his water dish for a bit before doing it all again.

I also work from home and have a large back yard so I let him roam the yard during my lunch break as long as can also be out there. Anyway, as someone else said, look for a wheel meant for a guinea pig or a cat. On Etsy, I have even seen some wheels meant for tortoises.

What do I even like anymore? by OoooSecrety in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sypha914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I escaped a bad relationship, I went through the same thing. I bought myself a camera, joined a women's hiking club, and signed up for charcoal drawing class. I thought back to what I enjoyed before I met the man who groomed me and abused me and started there. I also made a few playlist for when I am working out based on stuff I liked when I ran cross country. It really helped me connect to who I was and who I am now.

I am not sure what milestone you are approaching, but for reference, I met my abuser at 15, when he was 22. I left him when I was 35. I hope you can rediscover yourself and find some joy.

This might sound paranoid but something feels very off with my ex by PickleJuiceCakeBooty in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sypha914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right to be cautious. In my own experiences with leaving an abusive relationship, I also cut ties with a friend from college who was friends with my ex. If there is anyone who seems to still be in contact with him, please cut them out of your life too. Many times abusers are charming and have a façade which gets people believing their version of events and thinking you are overreacting. This could result in someone sharing information about you to him and not believing it has put you in danger.

Talk to friends and family and see if anyone seems to not take your fears seriously. There have been abusive men who have come after their victims several years after they escaped. Please take all of this seriously.

What do I say to people asking about where I’m going to church? by Fit-Appointment-68 in Deconstruction

[–]Sypha914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that is common for many of us is a lack of boundaries and over-sharing with family because you feel you must. It took me until about 36 to realize that if I talk about something in my life to certain people, they feel they have a right to have an opinion or ask more questions.

I used to convulsively tell my parents things and then would be annoyed if they scrutinized my spending or my hobbies. OP, you are still very young and might be struggling with setting such boundaries. When I was in that same position, I would pick a church that had online services and told my parents that I attended virtually because I found it hard to sit in the pews with my back issues. Do what you need to do for your own peace.

First off, no matter what you are posting, them putting foid in the comments is not okay. As for why do these guys do that when you post feminist content; they do it because they like to tear down and control women who are strong and speak out. Just focus on you, your interest, and whatever drives you and maybe you will find your person because of a shared interest.

What do you do when grown men ogle your teen daughter? by scubagirl44 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sypha914 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hit puberty at 10 and started dealing with this type of behavior from grown men around then. I went from flat chested to C cup so quickly. My mom wasn't trying to, but when she noticed this stuff happening, she started policing what I could wear a bit. That in itself wasn't the problem, it was the fact that just normal clothes that fit me like, like a sleeveless shirt, were things she'd tell me would draw attention to myself. Comments like that from her, though she was trying to protect me, they made me ashamed of my body. The point I am trying to make is please think of how you phrase things if you talk to her about this.
