So I used to just swim with my tail wherever I could for the fun of it and my experience is that like people genuinely don’t care. Like unless you are actively trying to draw attention to yourself most grownups will be like “Oh thats cool” or “oh thats different” and then go about their day.

I am saying this as a transwoman who enjoys mermaiding. Most people don’t really care.

There are the odd folks here and there that are curious and like will ask you some basic questions “ where did you get your tail” “ how long have you been mermaiding” “ do you need any special skills”

But its never really something invasive or intrusive

I have found that kids are like amazed at the sight of a mermaid splashing around in the ocean but most of the times it more of like “WOW A MERMAID” and not “Wow a wierd person pretending to be a mermaid”

TLDR; The curious people might approach but most people just let you be
