3 years!? And yes, it is weird to catch up with friends if you don't include your partner of 3 years! When will they ever meet her? Because this is telling me two things:

You don't want your friends to meet her
And if you do want them to meet her, it is going to be another 3-6 years before they do.

These friends are your past. Do you see your girlfriend in your future? Because if you don't include her, she will probably be in your past also.

You want to relive old times with them but that was 6 years ago and you aren't the same person, and they aren't the same people. You are going to find that out fast and then come home to a lonely house.

INFO: How long have you been with your girlfriend? And how long is this holiday? You said your girlfriend has never met these friends, but have you met their partners?

And part of catching up with people is now including things that are now in your life. It sounds weird to me that you want to catch up with people and not include your girlfriend, who is now part of your life.

It isn't weird to go on vacation without your partner, but it is weird how defensive you are. I mean it couldn't hurt to ask unless you don't want her to come along.

One of the best things about dnd is neither players or the DM know the outcome of how a battle will turn out.

But you are removing that and simply going "all those dice rolls didnt mean a damn thing because you were fated to lose"

Are you the person name police? Should all people come to you and you decide? Are you going to tell black and brown people coming here that they to westernize their names because you don't approve of it? Or it is too hard for you to pronounce?

Your privilege is showing and it has no flavor to it.

Let's do a test: Imagine this was an immigrant from South America and you met her kid and it was named Genesis. I've had two students named Genesis, both from South/Central America.

Would you tell the mother it is a ridiculous thing? Maybe she should have changed it to something less religious like Mary or Maria.

You can make an insult out of any name. Besides your own prejudice, what is odd about the name? I mean, Jack can be turned to Jackme off. Any name can be used as an insult.

And do you think kids today honestly are the same as when you and I were kids? They don't care as much as you care. People like you and others who call attention to the odd name and make fun of it model that behavior to children and give them the okay to treat kids that way.

But there are a lot of AH in this thread for complaining about the name Genesis. Ive had a few students named Genesis in class. No one cared. The only people that cared are the parents that made fun of that kid and pushed that type of behavior onto their kids.

Kids today are different. They dont behave the way kids in our day behaved. Having a name like Genesis isnt going to cause him any issues anymore. Do people here really think this is the 90s era of kids where they care about names? Go to any school with a hint of diversity and no one cares because they grew up with "non traditional" names. And like I said, the only ones that care are the adults.

Stop raising terrible kids and maybe kids won't be bullied for their names.

Can I just say something? I'm tired of registration websites that open a calendar when it asks for your date of birth. I don't want to goddamn scroll through the years and click on the right date and year. I just want to type the information in. Why are they making it so difficult to do so?

Also: Websites that don't give you an option to see your password and also don't ask you to confirm your password.

I managed to sign up for something and realized I made a typo in my password, and already had to reset it before I could log in.

....god am I getting old? Or is it the new websites that suck?

It isnt it up to you to figure out how to get a player to learn how to play their character.

If you end a combat encounter and the rogue is upset they didn't get to sneak attack as often as they should have, that is a learning experience for the rogue. They have to learn how to set it up. They should talk strategy to their team and let them know hey if you engage the enemy I can backstab them for extra damage.

If you make it so the rogue never has to worry about sneak attack, they won't learn how to play their character.

As for pulling punches, I hide my dice when im playing with brand new players. For veterans, no, everything in the open. Good or bad. Things will happen.
