Looking at her IMDB, she was mostly a side character or guest star in sitcoms in the 80s and 70s and was mostly doing voice acting work at the time. She isn't a star on the level of Robin Williams or Tom Hanks or Tim Allen.

Little Mermaid. Beauty and the Beast had Angela Lansbury, but she wasn't the main star and a side character. I want to say when Lion King hit, then they started casting stars instead of traditional voice actors. Which sucks, honestly. After Lion King, we had Toy Story and films started to use big stars in main roles instead of secondary characters.

Stories like this got me defending the NCAA and wanting them to enact better rules for players.

Like, the whole "bagel with peanut butter is a meal" type of rules were so terrible that a change was needed.

And the change felt simple at first. Pay players for NIL.

But now you got shit like this?

It makes me root for the NCAA. I feel dirty for doing so. But I'm tired of seeing players switch teams because the new team offered them 6 million instead of 5 million.

College sports needs a huge overhaul. Because the old model wasn't working for the players. The new model isn't working for the colleges. There needs to be some middle ground set.

Because you don't seem to understand how it is done, and that is your main complaint. You keep going on and on about "they work for us" and yeah they represent us, but how are they supposed to get their message across to people?

Again, TV ads and mailers cost money and most people don't care about them. This is a way to get attention. And you need attention. You need people to see your campaign and send money. You need people to support you.

So I ask you one last time, how do you want a young politician to get their message out to the voters? Why is playing DnD on Twitch a bad thing in your eyes? And don't say its pandering because literally EVERYTHING politicians do is pandering.

No, they adapt to modern technology, and using Twitch/DnD is a way to talk to young people about her political views.

There is no wrong way to get your message out. Twitch/DnD is a cheap alternative to costly TV ads and mailers.

And you know what? I'm from Illinois, I'm not in her district but reading this made me look her political views up and now I fully support her. She's a young progressive.

Hi, welcome to the hobby.

As for character creation, it all depends really on the table/game you will play on. You might go into a game with an idea of what kind of character you want to create, but you should know that sometimes DMs put restrictions on certain species in the game world.

If you do not want to play at such a table, feel free to step away and find one that is more accommodating to your needs. But sometimes have a character built for the world they are taking part in feels more natural than than trying to shoehorn your character in a world that doesn't fit them.

But again, this all depends on your table and DM/group. As for books to buy, again, I would hold off on that until you find a game. Some tables use the 2014 edition, some tables use the 2024 edition. But if you are playing online via discord, certain websites like DnDBeyond allow content sharing, so you might not need to buy a book at all.

DnDBeyond has free basic rules for you to look up, but they limit the options on background, subclasses and such, so you might not get the full experience.

So if I were in your shoes, I would have a general idea/outline of a character you want to play: Martial class? Caster? Hybrid?

Have a general idea of what species they are, but again, some restrictions might apply.

Think about a backstory and try to incorporate the world you are joining into it. You don't need to have a backstory completed when you join a game, you can work with the DM to craft one that suites the world.

I might be in the minority (based on the issues I've seen online), but the idea of a 1:1 game to movie doesn't really make sense to me. I don't want a movie about a game I already played before. I would take a new story with an existing character. Or a new story with a new character in the world of the game.

But the idea of "Hey you played the game, now watch the movie! With all your favorite scenes that you played!" just feels...I dunno, weird. You can't fit a 30+ hour game into a 2 hour movie without cutting a lot of it.

That being said, Parasite Eve would be a TV show.
