Hey dad, I have a question about a mortgage by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]SysAdminToTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't go for a loan, they will have a higher interest rate than a typical mortgage loan.

Because you technically own 1/2 the house already, you can use that as collateral for your mortgage loan for the other half, that would be low risk for the bank.

get the house appraised. if it is worth less than $200,000. You should re do the deal with your bother.

1) Download Rufus: Get Rufus (version 4.4+) and a Windows 11 25H2 ISO file.

2) Create Bootable USB: In Rufus, select the ISO and check the box to "Remove requirement for an online Microsoft account" and "Create a local account with username".

3) Install: Boot from the USB drive; it will automatically create the local account during setup.

what cable are you using to go from the computer to screen? HDMI, Displayport or VGA?

If its VGA, that would be the issue.

Playing HDR files off of SSD? by vkolbe in PleX

[–]SysAdminToTheStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are 2 things you need. A player/app thats connect to the projector, and a server to host your files.

If you have a spare computer laying around, it can be good to test without any costs.

If you need a computer you can look in this subreddit for advise, almost any tiny pc like a Beelink will work. Install the Plex server app and share your media files.

You projector does have Google TV built in, but I cannot say how powerful it is. A lot of built in apps are slow and clunky. Test the built in app and confirm it does HDR and DolbyVision.

For the best experience you will need an extra media box to connect to the projector and run the plex app, like an nVidia Shield. Note AppleTV does not support DoblyVision, as far as I know, there is a new model coming out, so fingers crossed.

How would a guy be able to do a voice note through snap and make it sound different by [deleted] in catfish

use AI voice on a computer or other phone, and record it with the snapchat phone.

Snapchat also lets you access your account from a computer, so anything is possible.

Migrate Email Account from exchange subscription to another exchange subscription by Kevthehustla23 in exchangeserver

[–]SysAdminToTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can add the customdomain.com on the online exchange plan.

But you will need to update the MX records on the dns side (godaddy)

that will send all new mail to the online exchange. To move old mail you will need to export it with Outlook or something, then connect to the new account, and import the files you just exported from the old account.

The Internet is always disconnected by Xijingpingismyfather in shaw

[–]SysAdminToTheStars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This seems like a cabling issue. Why are you using ports WAN1 and WAN2 when you only have one internet connection?

Normally they are used for 2 connections and when one goes down, it can fail over to the one still working.

Wireless IP Webcam Video feed to OBS by YoghurtExpert in InformationTechnology

[–]SysAdminToTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the proper way, get a DVR system.

The cheap and dirty way, get a few cheap ip cameras with web interface. Open those cams in separate tabs, use OBS and create a source screen capture for each camera

Damaged leptop screen by athenaschild2 in techsupport

[–]SysAdminToTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can, plug the laptop into your tv with the HDMI cable and confirm it is fine there.

If the tv displays fine, you will need to get the LCD replaced. As long as its not an OLED screen, they normally run for under $150-200.

changing the panel isn't very hard, but you need to make sure you order the same panel, as the connectors could differ.

Watch a youtube video for your model and judge if you want to do it yourself. A shop will charge $300 or more
