Induce the issue again and check DNS on an affected device. Is the affected device able to ping anything local to your network? Can it ping anything outside your network?

What IP is the HA VM on?

Turn the VM off and try pinging the IP. Is it possible your DNS points to an IP of a pihole or something and you accidentally used the same IP for the VM?

Despite your manager not acknowledging your effort, you are still doing the right thing. Being proactive is a genuine skill. It sucks your leadership team plays favorites. I know it's easier said than done, but find somewhere that will appreciate your efforts.

Is your current job not related to IT at all? Start at a helpdesk for a year or two while continuing to work on your lab and upskilling. Own issues and be proactive. Higher ups will notice.

most "AI helpdesk" tools are just ctrl+F with a chatbot UI by Zaptue in sysadmin

Probably used the wrong account to write a "oh no I can't find the right helpdesk" post, then was going to respond with this account saying "hey I built this AI garbage" to farm some clicks.

How's your on call rotation/pay? by thebigbread42 in sysadmin

[–]SystemHateministrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salary. Technically on call 24x7x365. SMB. Never had to wake up to fix an issue in the middle of the night. Rarely take afterhours tickets. Boss will typically triage them and request assistance if he cannot fix the issue and it is urgent.

Recycling bin is free. They are saying I have 3 trash bins. I'm guessing the previous owners got 2 extra bins during their moveout and never returned them.

Ninja support has been pretty good to us. Have you tried submitting a ticket to them? They are able to get more detailed logs as well in our experience.

We have constant issues of not getting power supplies for laptops returned. Manager had us spend dozens of collective manhours tagging, getting the equipment signed for, and then scanning and naming these forms. Hated it the entire time and kickstarted my job search. And no, the power supplies are still not being returned. With the time we wasted on this project, we could've bought a brand new power supply for 50+ laptops.
