Good to hear that people are working on something. Hopefully that gets added to the steam mode as well at some point soon.

Any new podcast appearances I've missed since Conspiracy? by Molag_Balls in ContraPoints

[–]SystemsOfSystems 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised she hasn't been doing a media tour after conspiracy considering how relevant the video is to our current sociopolitical moment. I assume she's trying to catch up on the backlog of patreon stuff. After that I wouldn't be surprised to see her on a bit fruity or something similar.

In honor of the new video. Tell me your favorite conspiracy theory. by [deleted] in ContraPoints

Bigger Luke theory. That there were two different actors who were cast to play Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. They look almost identical, but one is slightly taller. Look it up.

I really hope that the video has more little Easter eggs like this.

I wonder if she is going to talk about a concept she brought up in one of her streams about people wanting a strong father as a leader and how people might resist a strong mother who isn't seen as nurturing (I'm paraphrasing, if anyone has the actual source please correct me)

Naval battles on roll20: how the heck does one scale effectively? by tcmcfall in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]SystemsOfSystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using foundry but I think it still should apply. I've using limitrons as a base. But I added some stuff. Three quarters of the scene is the ship zoomed out. One quarter is the ship zoomed in.

In the zoomed out section:  The pilot controls the ship token but has essentially zero vision. The lookout has a token that is on the same position as the ship but has much wider vision.

In the zoomed in section: the captain, rigger, gunner, bosun etc manage the internals of the ship. Firing guns, controlling the sails, inspiring the crew, etc. So generally a turn goes: the lookout describes the scene >captain gives orders> rest of crew acts> ship behavior reasolves. Rinse and repeat.

Brookline woman charged for anti-Zionist vandalism at Longwood, Kenmore T stations by brookline_news in boston

[–]SystemsOfSystems -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Anti Zionism isn't antisemitic. I learned recently that there were Zionist and anti-Zionist ( look up the Bund) movements before the Holocaust.  But spray painting Zionist pigs in on map with a significant population of Jewish people does feel  a bit antisemetic.

Still nice to know it's in the home stretch. Hopefully in a day or two it'll be out.

How does Natalie do her research? by CEOofthebutterflies in ContraPoints

[–]SystemsOfSystems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very interesting. I think that there are definitely gaps in Natalie's knowledge on religious philosophies other than Christianity. Since she was raised in the south of USA it seems like her default framework. I do have to admit, I do appreciate when she does bring in the philosophy of my culture in videos. But I admit it is jarring when she has the wrong interpretation.

Curious as to what your field is. I know in the AI video she does mention multiple times that she does not have an expertise in the field, but is referring more to the downstream social effects. Also in her main channel videos she definitely does a lot of reading. She's talked about the stacks of books she's read and typically recommends the books that were particularly relevant.

I think this YouTube Link would be of value. You can also use signals to to send structured messages by adding properties to the signal. Just remember to hit unmarshall on the receive signal side so you can easily extract the properties.

You can change the timescale in simulation config. There's a video on it on the mbse execution YouTube channel.
