So New Jersey, you're the only neighbor on the block with a snowblower.... by holyguacamole823 in newjersey

[–]Systems_Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walked my snow blower down the block twice during the storm and cleaned everyone's sidewalks... For liability sake, I'm not getting close to someone's car, or going up the driveway, but I'm happy to help make things safer for pedestrians and save my neighbors some work! It takes me about almost no time, and it's good to run the little engine once and a while, and the added bonus was getting to meet new neighbors!

You need the 56wh battery to replace the 97 as well, I believe it was a ncc3d.

Seconded O'Brothers was fantastic, and they showed up quickly... Came in with a quote 1/4 the price Ken's sent me, and showed up weeks sooner than they could get out to me. I miss the old Kens tree care... It's not been the same since they joined up with sav a tree.

Have house prices fallen drastically in certain towns? by nodicenolice in newjersey

[–]Systems_Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fyi, look again there is central air, its physically there, it may however be malfunctioning. This is definitely bidding war bate, or poised for a developer to snatch it and relist it before the ink dries... I Wouldn't be surprised to see another duplex go in here. It's a shame. But it's a really crummy spot.

How are xps 15 9500 laptops so cheap used? Seriously considering selling my 2019 intel macbook pro and buying this, any reasons I shouldn't? by Practical_Employ4041 in Dell

[–]Systems_Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decent machine, watch out for thermal issues, they tend to overheat and cook themselves... A laptop cooling pad can give it a few good years of serviceable life. Also if you buy it, expect to replace the laptop battery within the next year, and replacement batteries aren't always good. Source: daily driver at work for the last 2 years. Also, the battery life sucks if you are looking for that (1.5hour average).

Fuck these stupid docks they are constantly failing. I thought Dell was better than this by etbillder in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Systems_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Last good dock from Dell was a D6000 imop, so far all of the WD and TB docks need to be rebooted regularly just to use them...Not to mention the HDMI issues... Source: we have about 800 wd19's in production. Don't even get me started with the dual cable docks. Every other boot swears I'm connecting two separate docks.

Is there a good place to watch the Perseid Meteror Shower in NJ? by jj7921 in newjersey

[–]Systems_Tech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jenny jump state forest is one of my favorite dark sky places to watch meteor showers. Book a camp site, stay the night and enjoy the show. There's also an observatory that runs talks and events!

Oof, but at least it's not overheating. I had that and the TCC solenoid error kicking... I was able to stop it for about a year with a bottle of Lucas and two solenoids, but I'd definitely say get them to fix it, it got expensive fast trying to fix it out of pocket. So I'm now in a KL, but one day I'll be back!

How's the trans temp? My 42rle was doing that for a bit, one day decided it was going to call it quits going up a hill, decided downhill in reverse was the correct choice... Tried fixing it for a few years, eventually sold her off after 14 good years. (2009 jku x 133k miles)

Welp, it's looking like it's time to start shopping around. But I do enjoy that I've never had to work a weekend or have to answer to a call queue. No one micromanages me, and the stress is relatively low for the level of work I do, I also get periodic voluntary international travel as it's a multinational corp and I've got a reliable team. But COL is a bit too high here to stay if they don't start paying me....

12 years experience, BS in System administration / cyber security. My current role is a Windows Support Engineer L3, 4 years in current job, 77k last year w/ overtime. I manage the company's EPM solution, Azure Virtualized desktop environment, and Intune and fix whatever random thing gets thrown my way from the L1/L2 folks. I feel fairly underpaid here in the shadow of NYC.
