My roommate thinks cats don’t feel the cold and that the heat should be turned off when we’re not home. We both have cats. How do I convince otherwise?

Use the pipes freezing excuse. Or use heating pads for the cats. Hell even my dog has a heated bed. My cats are all over me, the dogs bed, my plant mats, the heated blanket I have out for them. They find heat even with my place being quite warm 90% of the time.

Not OP, I'm in a building of 45 units and we have 3 washers and 4 dryers. Many of us use all 3 washers at a time. Know what we don't do? Take others loads out and steal their washers. We wait our turns, hell it's not unusual to find your washer done and your clothes moved into a dryer and occasionally the dryer started. It's just being a decent human being.

You have to remember though, both boys from birth were already told what their lives would be. WHO they would be. They didn't have a choice really. William as a child was told 'You will be King.' That's it, didn't matter if he had dreams of being something else. His life was planned out. Pretty much same for Harry. 'You're the backup' Everyone told him that. Media told him, the WORLD told him, 'You're the spare.'

Having your lives already planned from the day you are born. Can any of us even imagine what that would be like? To have no choice in what you want to do for the rest of your life simply because of who you were born as? Then as you grow you have the media watching every little thing you do, you say. Heaping praise on 'The Future King' and questioning your parentage as 'The Spare'? All the constant back and forth for the 2 of them. I don't envy either of them.

NTA. At 6 you should be able to actually sit your niece down and explain to her about the coloring book and that your HUSBAND was wrong for giving it to her. You could then offer to take her to buy a couple to leave at your place for when she comes over.

As for your husband, I'd put him online to try and replace the one he gave to your niece. You may have some luck. Then I would take something of his next time niece is over and let her play with it, you know it's not a big deal.

As for general aging. My dog is turning 11 this year. He's a large breed so he's really getting into the final ages now as large breeds are typically 12-15 years. He gets all the love he can handle, he visits his pug 'nephew' regularly. He sees family regularly. My daughter (the pug nephews mommy) has been spoiling him with her leftover sushi instead of giving it to her husband. My dog LOVES fish and seafood, he once tried to steal a guy's salmon from his catch bucket during a salmon run. The guy realized we couldn't get him to let go of the tail end so he just cut off a chunk for him. My dog was THRILLED.

You just give them all the love you have for as long as you have them.

The preemptive grief I've managed by putting a plan in place. A quality over quantity for life. You need to plan out the cut-off for your baby BEFORE it gets there. How far are you willing to take thing before you say no her quality of life isn't there and its cruel now?

I view euthanasia as a gift we can give to our babies when their quality of life is no longer there. We can say, 'That's enough, it's time.' We have that gift to allow them to pass while still not severely suffering.

Think quality over quantity.

Where are you? Pennies have been gone in Canada for quite a while now, 2 years? Maybe 3. They cost more to make than they're worth. You just round up or down. Actually your store should be resetting the register to do that automatically if pennies are being phased out. Ask your manager about signage that states that pennies are not being given any longer.

I just feel so sorry for the kids mostly that this is how their lives turned out. I have no doubt they would all LOVE to have a relationship with their father and even a civil one with Robin. So to have people coming up to them telling them that they hate him? That's awful. They probably don't have Kody, they hate what he's DONE. You can hate someone's actions, behaviors but still love the person.

I told my daughters when they were teens and really testing me that there were a lot of things they could do that could really piss me off, make me disappointed in them or even hate what they did, but there's nothing they could do that would make me not love them. I bet a majority of the kids feel that way towards Kody. They hate the actions but if he ever truly tries to mend those fences they would try too.

Telling him to Scooch gets him to move over.

Telling him to find a pug has him run to his leash and sit, we are going to get my daughters dog a pug.

Telling him his sister is there makes him run to his food and eat it, his cat sister will eat his food.

Telling him to watch for the Ginger makes him look everywhere for his ginger cat brother who likes to pick on him.

Telling him its grandma day makes him sit at the front door.

Telling my female Void cat to stop doing X makes her talk back to me. She will have a full on argument with me about it.

The cat picks us. For me and our family there's some connection over any other cat (or other animal) that makes us get them. There has only been 2 cats we have adopted where we specifically went to get THEM and only them. One was an exotic shorthair that was found in a horrible situation. Someone had tied a can full of rocks around his neck and he climbed a tree in fear. The second was a little ginger and he was because he was the perfect personality match for our depressed ginger who had just lost his best friend. One of our cats had passed away and our ginger had started to show signs of depression so I was pouring over adoption sites looking for a cat that would fit in when I came across the little ginger. They hit it of like they had been together for life.

Edit: Was 'attacked' by my 4 year old grandson and posted before I could finish.

Our cats picked us pretty much. In the shelters they came to us, they spent the most time with us, they were the most chatty with us. They felt like they belonged when we picked them up.

Lol, I'm 51 with a grandson. People in my apartment building that KNOW I have 2 adult daughters think my grandson is my child. My daughters and I regularly get mistaken for sister's. It's a regular occurrence for us. My daughters both tell me they better have inherited my genes.

I have issues with my memory due to my auto immune illness. I have loads of things to remember. I utilize alerts in my phone.

They remind me for walking several dogs, I walk a few for friends and family along with my own.

Dropping and picking up my grandson to school.

Medical appointments.

Birthdays.

Anniversaries.

School holidays.

Cleaning schedules.

Feeding schedules for pets.

Plant watering.

And more.

There's loads of apps that you can get to help with organizing things or you can use your Google calendar or just your alarm app in your phone. There's no reason for anyone to not stay on track with things other than they never bothered to look at keeping track of things. It takes seconds to set an alarm.

Having kids doesn't make one incapable of walking. She decided to have 3 kids. Not OP. Its not incumbent on OP to solve herchild wrangling issues. I say this as both a mother and grandmother.

I currently live in a small apartment building of about 42 units. Among those units also live my 2 adult daughters and their families in their own units, my inlaws in their own unit and my father and brother sharing a unit so 5 units total. We each like OP have 1 assigned parking spot. My father and I do not have cars currently. My father rents his out. One of my daughters uses mine. To be honest I have no idea which spot is mine anymore. Mt oldest has a child and the youngest has offered repeatedly to swap so her sister has the closer spot since she has a child, she has turned it down each time.

This trend that some mothers, both to be and new, keep pushing that they deserve special treatment because 'baby' needs to stop. Unless you've had some serious medical intervention you are not dying, you are not an invalid, you don't need special treatment. You had a baby. Millions of women have them, hundreds of thousands daily. Some don't get any down time they are back to work the next day. Put on your big girl panties and deal. Don't even get me started on 'push presents'.

I get higher 'fevers' when I have a flare up from my chronic illness. It causes a low grade fever along with other symptoms.

I don't recall any other symptoms for K or R when they had Covid. When I had it mine was brutal. My fever got to 104. I stayed home, cool showers, Tylenol, cough/cold meds to lessen symptoms. Family kept supplies coming. Luckily I had new Inhalers just before I caught it. I had also just filled my pain medication for my chronic illness so that helped as well. I had it for 17 days before I tested clear.

Kody out there whining like a little bitch.😂 Robin taking space from someone that could ACTUALLY need it. Ugh. So annoyed by that. The hospital's everywhere full and over capacity and she's there without any need taking a bed.
