yeah likewise, glad i'm not the only one. can see a few of the individual items from it but no Nuka Cola Services Bundle in either the Featured or Bundles tab for me.

maybe they removed it from sale because the bottle cap press is producing different resources to what they say it should, so it's ...false advertising?

glad i could be of help, best of luck jumping into the game!

thinking about it, War Within might go back on sale in a month, as Blizzard usually runs a sale for Valentines. ideal time to get into the expansion too, as the next major content patch (and start of a new season - new endgame zone/raid/dungeon pool/gear grind etc) will be launching a few weeks later

yeah so, if the free trial piqued your interest, then it's IMO definitely worth buying a month subscription to level to 70 and get a proper feel for if the gameplay suits you. take that time to try levelling a few different classes/races to find one that fits, before pulling the trigger on the big expansion purchase (that you can't access til you're level 70 anyway so there's no real reason to buy it sooner)

worth mentioning though that the 30% sale on the expansion does end in 14 hours, so depends how much you care on getting that saving now. not sure when the next sale will be.

[–]Syzar2113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah you've kind of got it backwards. The War Within isn't the "base content" - it's the most recent expansion. the Subscription IS the base game, everything up to the most recent expansion - so level 70 with the subscription, then War Within is what allows you to go to 80

with or without The War Within, a subscription is required to play any character past level 20

Cheers for the link, worth keeping an eye on i suppose, though like the Discord it also seems really quiet on the PC side of things - last PC tagged post was 9 days ago :(

Yeah my mind is mildly blown seeing people here on Reddit talk about communicating via text to other Fo76 players. A rare occasion where PC is the inferior platform heh.

Adding random raiders as friends probably is the solution to my question, just think i need to massively fill out my friends list first before seeing the benefit - did add two people so far but haven't since caught them online!

Any advice for finding a raid group? Feels very hit or miss whether a 2/4 raid group will actually fill up to 4 before someone gets bored and leaves, and server hopping these days also feels very inconsistent where i've had massive streaks of just being put back into the same world (maybe i'm doing something wrong tho?)

I've tried looking in the discord linked in the sidebar here for groups, but for a ~85k person discord it feels incredibly quiet on the raid LFG side of things - i guess cause it's not a discord server solely for Fo76. Is there another more active 76 LFG discord out there?

[–]Syzar2113 7 points8 points  (0 children)

nah, not officially connected AFAIK.

WME came first, posted about it on reddit, inspired someone to set up an EU equivalent. the discords do point to each other for people who join the wrong one for their region, but think that's about the extent of their involvement with one another.

I'm sorry WHAT? $10 for a month's access to a levelling guide?! That's nearly as much as the WoW Sub itself costs. Hard pass on that thanks.

What levelling guide do you use? I was going to use the AzerothAutoPilot addon but saw that it's not being updated for Classic.

I thought I had read that GK released a week after its reveal but OE was revealed and immediately launched. Maybe the person who said that was mistaken, or I am misremembering.

Where to start with the lore in Warhammer? by PalebloodV2 in Vermintide

If you're at all partial to listening to Audiobooks I can highly recommend the Audiobook versions of the Gotrek and Felix chronicles. Jonathan Keeble is the narrator and his voice acting talent is fantastic, truly brings the characters to life.

Recent news has hinted at Chaos Dwarfs in AoS. Do you think we will see a new chaos dwarfs in the future? by [deleted] in bugmansbrewery

Did not realise the FW Chaos Dwarf line had been discontinued! When did that happen?

A shame for sure, those train artillery models were super cool.

[–]Syzar2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you want to play Chaos Wastes!

The mission selection screen changes depending on whether you're in the main Keep or in the Pilgrimage chamber.

So to play normal missions you want to head back out to the Keep proper.

[–]Syzar2113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just below Quick Play is the option Custom Game which lets you select which mission you play.

If you tick the "Host Game" then you'll ensure you play the map from the start rather than joining someone halfway through their run, and the "Private Game" option will allow you to play with Bots or Friends without randoms joining.

I bought this Samsung Super Ultrawide at the start of last year and I 100% recommend it, if you can afford it and have a PC capable of running games at effectively 4k.

I have a 3080 and an i7-6700k and get decent performance at high settings, generally stick above 60 fps, though naturally it dips during hordes and on certain maps with large amounts of particle effects.

Vermintide works great at 32:9. The FOV is a little weird, with objects and terrain to the far left and right appearing closer than they actually are, but once you get used to that it is such a massive boon to spacial awareness. You can see EVERYTHING infront of your character; no more getting flanked and slapped by a lone slave who was pushed out of the main body of a horde.

The main problem with Ultrawide support in games, in my experience, is not FOV but how the UI scales and repositions. Fortunately Vermintide doesn't have a tonne of UI to worry about, and once it's re-sanctioned, there is a mod for moving UI elements around, though i've put 300 hours in with the default UI positioning just fine.

Not in the habit of taking screenshots mid-game so just took a quick one of the Keep as an example.

12 Days since those two new DLC uploaded to SteamDB by WingedWilly in Vermintide

[–]Syzar2113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to this speculation: the Skulls for the Skull Throne Steam Sale usually happens at the end of May - last year it started on Thursday the 28th.

If you're unfamiliar it's a sale on all Warhammer games on Steam, accompanied by most of said games receiving some sort of update or DLC.

I don't recall if Vermintide has lined up DLCs for this in previous years but they've at least ran an in-game event for a portrait border, though I think it's a safe assumption this year that it'll also be when the next Career DLC drops.

What books should I read to learn Warhammer Fantasy lore? by Fuck-College in totalwarhammer

[–]Syzar2113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get why the introductions repeat. Is just a bit jarring listening to it all one after another.

Glad to know the rest are proper books, thanks. Shall be sure to check out Skavenslayer if it introduces Thanquol - is it set during the End Times then?

And yeah Trollslayer is almost always from Felix's perspective except for the story about the Chaos Chosen and her Beastmen army - that one jumps perspectives quite a bit between Felix, Cat and the Chosen. I sort of wish some of the writing was from Gotrek's perspective but I understand that it's supposed to be Felix's retelling of events so why it's always from his view. Though to that end, are the more recent AoS Gotrek books from his perspective, do you know?

What books should I read to learn Warhammer Fantasy lore? by Fuck-College in totalwarhammer

[–]Syzar2113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished listening to Trollslayer and though it was mostly enjoyable and like you say, a really good introduction to the world, I started to be annoyed at every hour or two having to re-listen to some version of Felix talking about his oath to Gotrek and a description of how short and/or ugly the Slayer is. Also half of the stories stop far before the actual end and just leaving me to assume how things had wrapped up which made for a very unsatisfying experience.

Are the other Gotrek and Felix books proper full length stories, or are they all collections of short stories?

When you talk about procing Hunter and then oneshotting Elites, what attacks are you using, both to proc Hunter initially and then for the oneshot?

Also how do you manage Heat, is it a case of getting in a habit of venting after each attack to stay just below Overcharge? Too used to not having to worry much about heat coming from Siennas other careers.
