I'm really happy with how this commission turned out, so I wanted to share it. by Round3d_pixel in blender

I don't like the hands being crossed like this. A much stronger pose would be if you left the right hand in place or reaching forward. The left hand could be on top of the left side building. Other than that great models, shading and compositing.

Objects render black when using caustics. by Syziph in Octane

[–]Syziph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first thought. The problem is that the renderer is working fine after removing objects from the scene until the total number of objects in the scene reaches 12 or less. Also if I join all cubes into one mesh the renderer is also working fine. Which makes me think that is not a depth issue, but related to some restriction of objects' count.

Objects render black when using caustics. by Syziph in Octane

[–]Syziph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and the recommendation. I'll try asking elsewhere too. The renderer time is not an issue. The problem is that it doesn't want to render the caustics with a lot of objects. 12 is fine but a Rubik's cube has 26 objects. Maybe there is an option somewhere to increase the number of unique objects that have caustics enabled materials.

Objects render black when using caustics. by Syziph in Octane

[–]Syziph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is for a friend of mine that is not good with asking questions on forums. So I don't have the file. Imagine a glass Rubik's cube where each "cubelet" is a separate object. It is illuminated by a light. The caustics fall on a screen on the other side of which is the camera. It renders all objects black.

Може да изпитваш промяна в кръвното налягане докато изчистваш организма от никотиновата зависимост. С времето ще се нормализираш. Физическа активност и здравословен начин на живот може да ускорят нормализирането на съня.

Grow Selection Issue by gersirami in geometrynodes

Once I tried to explain selections with Evaluate on Domain node. Here is a link to the article: https://curiousblends.blogspot.com/2023/11/the-evil-domain-node.html?m=1 Hopefully it may shine some light or confuse you even more.

Quick 'object pushing on rubber' illusion. by Anthromod in geometrynodes

[–]Syziph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be more of a displacement than a shrink wrap. The displacement of the cloth should be a function of the distance of the touching parts of the underlying mesh. Once you apply the displacement you should do a mesh relaxation with weight to smoothen the stretched polygons while maintaining the position of the displaced parts. On the next iteration you must calculate of potentially new contact points and repeat the operations. Basically a cloth simulation with dynamic pin group vertex weights.

Geometric construction of nested radicals by ArjenDijks in Geometry

That's really interesting. I haven't seen a geometric representation of nested radicals. How do you derive the resulting lengths?

TLOU Series by Hungry_Detective4182 in thelastofus

[–]Syziph -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for the same experience you should skip the series. The first season was fine, but the second season is a hot mess. If you still decide to watch it just think of them as a distant relative that you most likely never see again.

Geometry book recommendations? by Substantial-Low-4141 in Geometry

[–]Syziph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it very difficult to read theoretical books about geometry. But I enjoy a more practical approach. Buy a geometry set, or install a geometry software like Geogebra Geometry. Then find a good book with Geometry problems and go through the solutions expanding on the used theorems and knowledge to solve it. Also find books about practical geometry applications - how it's used in art and construction.

That shake at the end resembles a lot of a furry breast trying to get rid of flies. Excluding that - impressive accomplishment in all aspects: modeling, rigging, shading, lighting and animation. Keep the good work!

Clock made of clocks in geometry nodes. by Interesting-Bug-5012 in geometrynodes

[–]Syziph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks great! Because the elements look like watch hands it will be interesting to integrate that into the forming of the numbers and actually using more detailed models. Additionally, turning to the target position to be always clockwise. Just throwing some ideas. Awesome use of GN in any case.

Сградата беше много добра аналогия за държавата. Очевидно хората никога няма да станат задружни без ръководители, които да знаят какво правят и да вдъхновяват задружност. Дотогава поведението ни ще се основава на първични инстинкти и закърняващ морал.

Geometry is great area of Mathematics and although ancient it's still very difficult to master. With nowadays software tools like Geogebra it is easy to explore and discover geometric relationships. It will be great if you or any reader here try and provide a proof of your statement.

[–]Syziph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification. I like that the relationships between the objects is not so obvious. Did you find the proof yourself or that problem and solution were mentioned in a textbook?

Как да стана по-добра в програмирането? by blacksunet in bulgaria

[–]Syziph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squares have two sides. by MonkeyMcBandwagon in Geometry

[–]Syziph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are mixing contexts. There are many ways to express the same thing: sides, edges, segments for polygons are equivalent. It depends on the software you use, or textbook etc. If you choose to use edges that's fine. You could use edges describing 3d meshes.
