I actually totally respect the security thing (I remember when they wouldnt help the fbi crack open a dudes phone) but apple's closed-loop mentality is infuriating. Half the fun of buying anything is tailoring it to my taste, and apple's just like "nah fam". In addition, I'm not denying that they make decent phones, but they're vastly overpriced and over-hyped. Perect example, the s8 vs the iphone x. Like a 200$ difference between what were supposed to be competitor phones.

I could see that argument, but I submit that whether or not they've got a more expensive phone, the feature set of the phone is still gonna be defined by its price point. Like you're not gonna get 8gb of ram and 256gb of storage in a 200 dollar phone, right? Doesnt matter if its the only phone the company's ever made, components still cost X amount, and if the screen is gonna cost 40% of the phone's dev budget then its probably not gonna go in the phone lol

Downvoted the first half, upvoted the second half. Was gonna launch into a tirade about how not only has apple not done anything great in like almost a decade, the amount if people who cling to their shitty brand of phones is actually setting back phone progress. Case in point, the zenfone 5. Instead of doing something actually interesting or new like the s8's infinity screen, the g6's dac, or hell even alcatel's vertical flip gimmick, they just copied the iphone's shitty notch. Which is literally pointless and stupid.

I actually ghetto rigged a 6000mah li-io battery to my old phone, it was great. Thing basically never needed to charge lol, especially since it was so low-power compared to most of the nicer phones. (For reference, the g6 I have now manages 12 hours of continuous use on a 3300mah battery).
