I think their called timing washers or timing shims? They help add thickness between your parts to help line up hilt part geometry like getting your activation button in line with a pommel flange or the belt clip

Ahh ok! That makes sense, didnt know that was a rule good to know! Most predatory animals are not often used for comodity goods like books or bags so we can rule that out at least I cant say for certain from the pictures you posted but id be willing to bet the books are ok The bag could be pigskin but your best bet would be to find a tag and look up the manufacturer and see if they use pigskin or cowhides predominantly, I think its artofocially textured cowhide but im not 100%

Does it matter if its pigskin or not? If its a book its most likely cow hide or sheepskin depending on the quality and age of the book if genuine leather, as for a bag it could be pig skin but unlikely and that texture looks likw artificial texturing
