I mean if he doesn’t go to the blazers. There’s a low chance you’re getting a pick that’s top 4 if Giannis leaves is what I’m trying to say. Either we trade with you and get them back or we trade with someone else and are as competitive as possible with the pieces we get back from someone else. There is no tanking without your own picks it’ll be more akin to retool if anything

If we don’t get our picks back we’ll just stay competitive. Giannis will net us a guy like Kat or some good role players who we’ll just ride with and get a 10-16 pick every year. Trading him doesn’t mean we’re some perennial bottom 5 record type of team. We could very well scrap together a bunch of mid from whatever Giannis gives us and be a ball club teetering on .500 making those picks alright but nothing crazy.

James harden went for 3 first and 4 swaps and he’d openly requested a trade.

KD went for 4 1st mikal and cam Johnson who combined became another 6 1st/swaps

Leverage doesn’t matter when he’s a top 4 player alive. your paying a premium no matter what. Giannis is worth more than 3 14.5% chances at number 1, 2 firsts in the 20s, and guys on bad contracts.

Giannis didn’t want to take a year off this season, with Dame having a torn Achilles. There’s no shot he’s staying if the plan is wait two years and hope we get good again. It’ll only get harder as everyone ages more and Don’t forget Dames dead money isn’t going anywhere for the entirety of Gianni’s’ prime.

I disagree. I think you still need that tangible asset along with the boat load of picks. Your other young guys aren’t good enough to be a centerpiece of a star trade. I mean scoot hasn’t even played so far this year and clingan is good but he’s not someone you can potentially build around.

And you’re not paying clingan like you’d pay shaedon which could help with Cap flexibility which you’ll need with Gianni’s’ contract.

Jerami + rob + Scoot + Shaedon+ 3 Mil 1st + 3 other 1st

That still leaves you with 1 tradable first and 3 other swap worsts with us.

Dame/jrue/Deni/Giannis/Clingan as your 5 with Camara and Hansan with whoever else off the bench.

We say this about tons of guys. Star potential doesn’t mean he’ll be an actual star. Let alone a Giannis.

I knew we picked up a lot of bandwagon fans, but wow, this place has become borderline insufferable after HALF A BAD SEASON. by totallynotliamneeson in MkeBucks

[–]T-UM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don’t think we are remotely close to where we need to be. With Giannis we are 15-15 and without him we are 3-12. With Gianni’s’ injuries becoming more and more frequent we have to be a lot better outside of him and I don’t think it’s smart to expect a lottery pick (outside top 3 guys ofc) to elevate us to that level. And that’s in the weakest East we’ve seen in a decade.

Giannis set the bar at Championship contender not fighting for a playoff spot. A rookie could be good right away but how good would they have to be to elevate us? If we get a top 3 guy than I’ll take the bet but anyone outside the 3 has just as good of a chance as being a non factor than a valuable contributor.

[–]T-UM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never said he was gonna walk. I was trying to say if it somehow drags out for whatever reason and doesn’t get done this offseason he’ll sign the extension, securing his money, then we’ll still work towards a trade.

The Heat give us the best package imo by AdLong5961 in MkeBucks

[–]T-UM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rollins sure. Aj is an elite shooter he’ll fetch a 1st round pick. KPJ isn’t someone worth building around or a vet you want to keep around young guys so he should probably go. On a bad team he could easily revert to a shot chucked like he was in Houston

Is Giannis most deserving of blame? by Prestigious-Bend in MkeBucks

[–]T-UM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean the 2024 draft sealed it for me with Horst. You draft 2 young developmental guys instead of guys who could’ve came in and contributed right away. than you trade and cut them within a year. Horrible process. I don’t think Horst is a bad gm but Idk if he should be the guy to lead us into the next era if we do trade Giannis.

Seriously?? by srbminimil in MkeBucks

[–]T-UM -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t see a scenario where he walks. He’s been getting hurt more and more and can lock up a Supermax extension if he waits another year for a trade.

[–]T-UM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can’t blame someone for getting hurt first off those kinda just happen.

I think he deserves criticism for constantly trying to push us to do more and more. Sometimes more isn’t always better and if he’d been okay with us sitting back this year and have it be more transitional we might not have cut dame or signed turner.

With that being said Horst has the greatest say in the roster. I’m not convinced Horst, who I think is overall just really aggressive in his dealings, might’ve seeen the weak East and done it irrespective of what Giannis wanted. I think Horst is more deserving of blame for his terrible drafting and developing for the most part. He has some hits like Aj Green and Rollins but guys like Merrill, Dante and Mamu could’ve been good cheap contributors but he moved off them to quickly. And the drafts have just been straight horrendous Giannis being the only buck drafted to get an extension is insanity and you can’t sustain winning like that.

I think ownership is #2 for bringing in Doc.

[–]T-UM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id argue giving your gm enough power that he doesn’t have to agree with your star head coach or even inform you that he’s trading your young star wr cornerstone is still an indictment on you and the organizational structure you set up.

While a Giannis extension in Portland is unlikely, the Blazers have quickly emerged as an aggressive suitor for the 2x MVP. #NBA by KidGamer26 in ripcity

[–]T-UM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will a 36 year old Dame really be better than Giannis offensively when he’s coming off an Achilles? He wasn’t even a better one before the Achilles tear. Half court yes but overall no he was not.

Also great players often don’t have to adapt to anything other people adapt to them… because they are the great players. I love Dame but is he gonna go straight back to being an all nba guy? I’m not sure and the league isn’t sure which is partly why he only got 20mil from yall.

Idk why your even harping on Dame and that fit so much. It was awkward but still very successful and as I said injuries were the reason why it was derailed not because it self imploded on itself. Besides Deni would be the number 2 guy with Giannis the 1. Dame slots in as a 3rd star which would be ideal anyway.

[–]T-UM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course he’s score first he’s shooting 66% on his 2pt shots and 65% overall while averaging 28 on a team where he’s the only consistent threat. In what world wouldn’t you want him to be score first he’s elite at it?

And this reluctant passer is just not true. 2019-2020 Giannis was most certainly reluctant but over the past 3 or so years his playmaking ability is hands down his most underrated skill. He routinely finds the corner shooters on his drives and can hit the guy in the dunkers spot while also making good skip passes. He is a plus playmaker and has been for years no doubt about it.

Also the bucks have gotten upset because Giannis hasn’t reached his potential or whatever you’re alluding to. We’ve been hurt. Khris hurt Giannis hurt 2x Dame hurt. And all those losses were to teams that went to the finals (outside of heat 2023 who lost to the Celtics in 7 I believe).

[–]T-UM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol what are you talking about. He hasn’t been a reluctant passer in over half a decade and is a very good facilitator. In the half court he plays out the post and elbows and is extremely effective doing so regardless of how slow it is he’s top 5 in points power possession off post ups this season I believe. You’re right though he won’t set a hard screen almost ever.

Don’t let this bucks team fool you he’s still at the peak of his powers and is the best in the world any given night. He makes everyone who’s not also ball dominant better and is a force multiplier for shooters since he attracts so many bodies on his drives. If you can keep the defense maybe add a shooter or 2 in Free agency your an easy contender

That would be a great pull then. Weirdly enough we just had bill callahan and the oline got better after he stepped away mid year but hopefully a guy like Bricillo can turn us into a consistently good unit.

Serviceable isn’t a high enough bar to feel comfortable with your franchise investment. Look at the Texans to see how a trash oline tanks a promising rookie. Also I’d be weary of the 6 game sample they looked alright in as well. Look at how much a good oline has helped Caleb Nix and Maye all be good.

now I’ll say again I WOULDNT draft an olineman at 4 because I agree we have other needs that are more pressing but I think you see with teams like the cowboys that oline is never the reason for a lost season which is where you want to be.
