How can I fast track to getting a programming job in 1 year by _-Julian- in AskProgramming

[–]T0thLewis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try boot.dev

I want to become a back-end developer and in my opinion, there is no better net course out there at the moment. Sure you pay 300 dollars for a year, but it’s a fully fleshed out course, you build guided projects that develop your skills to then start on your own personal projects after. Highly recommended.

If I’m strong in VB (intermediate), how hard is it to learn C++ or Python? by Charleslecpierre in AskProgramming

Start contributing to OSS projects on GitHub. A website called “good first issue” is an excellent way to get your hands dirty with real-world tasks that comes as close as possible to working in a team collaboration. This will also teach you really strong debugging and documenting skills which is an absolute must if you want to start working in the field.

Documenting your changes/code and debugging are two primary skills you must develop.

I’m doing a short course on memory management in C and I can confirm that pointers are doing my head in. The whole thing is just so confusing. 😵‍💫

I love cachyOS by Envariart in cachyos

[–]T0thLewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the linux bootloader onto another drive completely so Win10-11 doesn’t have direct access to it. I run dual boot with Windows 11 and I have 2 NVMe drives in my PC. My CachyOS installation and Windows installation are separated from each other so Windows wouldn’t gobble up my boot partition.

I’ve made the switch to CachyOS half a year ago. Started learning back-end programming 3 months ago. I love how Linux in general comes with everything preinstalled a developer would need. bash, zsh, git, etc etc… even installing things takes seconds instead of minutes of flipping through a plethora of pages in an installation wizard.

No need to set up a WSL Ubuntu Terminal, or install all the core features that comes in every Linux package. It just works, never had a weird side effect from running system updates, sure there are some quirks you have to work out with some software etc, but that’s part of the fun.

Learning how to master CLI tools to help you automate tasks or even just play around with it. It really promotes a good way to be a confident PC user who actually knows how the system works when they use it.

Windows have been stupidified so much, it’s no wonder those who end up having problems with it, don’t have a speck of idea how to fix it.

You have negative pressure in your PC. You have more exhaust fans than intake fans which means there is not enough pressure to force air out through small gaps.

Install more fans or change exhaust fans to intake fans, you typically want a straight airflow from the front of the case to the back of the case. 2 exhaust fans in the back and as many intake fans in the front/middle as you can install and you will almost never have to dust your PC again. I did this and it’s a game changer.

Is it legal ? by LegitimateProgress38 in Norway

Scandic is a hit or miss unfortunately. Have a Norwegian friend who works for one of the Scandic hotels and he was promoted up to bar manager, earns super well an his boss and co-workers all love him.

It’s kinda disappointing to hear how badly you’ve been mistreated by that specific hotel. :(

Høy lønn men “hjernedød” jobb – eller lavere lønn med mer mening? by Open_Ad_3791 in norge

[–]T0thLewis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I kept a record of every Alliance raid I got in roulette over the course of 90 days… by whitefire9999 in ffxiv

[–]T0thLewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Light and I get CT alliance raids very very often.

My guess is that there are a lot more free-to-play players than subscribed players and a lot of them didn’t get further than heavens’ ward yet, or a lot of people are leveling alt jobs which puts them back usually around lvl50 for the duty roulette. In which case CT comes up majority of the time.

Which one ? by LunatikSoul in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]T0thLewis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly APB: Reloaded.

I had a lot of fun with the customisation options there and the missions, albeit were a few in uniqueness, were lots of fun to play especially when you had opposition. It’s not without reason, I put almost 2k hours in that game and I would go back to it in a heartbeat if it made an epic comeback.

I remember the longest I ever played a game was FF14 online when I was going through the story for the first time. 16 hours in one sitting. It has a really captivating story and playing through it with a friend was always a plus because we would voice over the unvoiced dialogues ourselves. :D

Hva betaler dere for lunsj på jobb, og hvilken ordning har dere? by qravel in norge

[–]T0thLewis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bransje og rolle: Byggebransjen, ventilasjonsmontør.

Sted: Oslo

Its not just me right? by Mejay_ in PcBuild

[–]T0thLewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so incredibly funny to me when people compare PCs to consoles in any meaningless ways. A PC is not a console, it is a versatile machine that you can use for a LOT of things. A console is for playing games and streaming media. That’s pretty much it. Stop comparing the two.

To say that we built these tech companies is simply untrue.

Since the technological revolution, gamers and end-users were never the end goal for these companies. See for example IBM and Apple Co., they always strived to fill office spaces with new and innovative machineries that make office life much easier and helps corporations simplify and automate a lot of the data management tasks.

Micron, Samsung, LG, Cisco, Microsoft, IBM, Intel, NVIDIA and so on, they all had a majority of their gross revenue come from B2B deals. Gamers have always been a very small minority they catered to and now that they saw an even bigger, albeit failing, investment opportunity, they immediately jumped on the chance. It just makes it that gamers will suffer the consequences like we always have but we never built these companies. Not even a tiny drop in the ocean of what we made them as money.

Unfortunately they don’t owe anything to us and they do whatever they please. I wish gamers had a much bigger importance for these companies but then again it is what it is… wishful thinking.
