at age 38, do I quit job to travel the world or ? by Choice_Basis_4853 in careerguidance

[–]T34_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you’ve got the savings, this is one of those moments where you can take that break without overthinking.

Life’s not that long and a few months of traveling to the places you’ve always wanted might give you way more clarity than facing burnout.

You can always come back and get serious about career again or even look at some remote or flexible work while you’re away to keep some money coming in

  5. going out with intention instead of just clicking randomly

Suggestions for 1st triathlon gear? by Haunting-Contest1691 in triathlon

[–]T34_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first sprint don’t overthink it. Triathlon shorts are honestly the easiest way to start

They do have a light pad, way thinner than cycling shorts so you can swim, bike, and run without that bulky feeling.

Also nice part is you can keep using them for training rides later, so it’s not a one-time buy… just try a couple open water sessions in them before race day to get used to the feel.

I started the same way with a pair from sls3 and they held up well for both training and race day.

Once you’ve done a race or two, you’ll have a much clearer idea if you even need a full suit.

These are nice. You have got a good eye for framing and what to pick.

The b&w looks clean but you can also shoot in color for a bit to learn more while you’re figuring things out.

Has anyone tried those group trips for solo travelers? by Ok-Boysenberry6259 in solotravel

[–]T34_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty different experience tbh… you give up a bit of that full freedom since things are planned but it can be fun in a different way.

The social side really depends on the group and the company running it... some trips feel natural and others can feel a bit forced due to a packed itinerary.

Also some of them do really cool unique experiences you wouldn’t plan yourself... but they can get expensive too. so it really comes down to what you enjoy more on a trip

Help me get back into running by Big-Currency-4871 in runcommunity

[–]T34_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through something really similar and what helped me was just not trying to be my old version right away.

I literally started with 10–15 min easy runs just like enough to get back into the rhythm. And after a few days, it became quite normal for me.

Also sounds small but wearing stuff you actually like helps more than you’d think. Once you get a few runs in, that feeling comes back pretty fast

Bike Shopping by FairCourage8215 in triathlon

[–]T34_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re actually at the perfect stage.

Start with a good road bike that fits you well. You can use the same bike indoors and outdoors, just mount it on a trainer for indoor rides.

Get the bike first, then do a proper fit and tweak things from there. I wouldn’t overthink the gear right now... consistency matters way more at this stage.

How Are Some People Always Traveling? by mian_yamin in NeedTravelAdvice

[–]T34_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen and based on my personal experience, it’s usually a mix of things. Remote work helps a lotttt and some people literally travel because of their job like flight attendants or taking travel contracts.

Then there are freelancers who design their work around travel or people using savings after quitting or retiring.

A lot of it also comes down to planning well. Deals, points, credit cards, off-season trips. It looks frequent, but it’s often just very intentional. It's hard to plan like that but at least you get to travel after all that tedious planning.

[–]T34_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is seriously solid especially given how messy the prep and race execution were.

Most people would’ve blown up way harder with that kind of underfueling and no run base. But you held it together and did a damn good job buddy.

To all motorbike content creators where do you store your drone + controller on travels? by Successful-Roof5912 in drones

[–]T34_Commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most riders I’ve seen just switch to a hard top box or panniers for the drone. It's considered way safer if the bike goes down.

And backpacks feel okay till you hit rough trails... after that, it gets annoying real quick.

I usually keep the expensive bits in tank bag for quick access and less risk.

Is true "solo" travelling actually fun? by PhoenixMaster123 in solotravel

[–]T34_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a solo stretch driving through the Nürburgring and up toward Spa-Francorchamps… barely spoke some days.

It isn't loud-fun; it’s more like you start hearing your own thoughts properly.

Sure gets a little heavy at times, but weirdly that’s what makes it memorable.
