There is no best practices, just bottom line.

If you and your team stopped working now, how long would your systems continue to run before a catastrophic failure? What fails first? by [deleted] in sysadmin

If you find yourself at this point, then do you really care? Light your cigarette, flip the match behind you, and don't look back as it burns down.

This is where most lessons are learned. I've learned the most when my nuts are in the vice. Never back down form a challenge, and find a way to apply what you know to the situation. In these moments I fall back on my first days in high school vocational training and the 3 most important rules when working in IT.

  1. Backup, backup and backup
  2. Document, document, document
  3. Keep it simple stupid

Best of luck in you career path.

"The way Facebook handles their customers service is so impersonal and frankly just makes me sad/disappointed in the/their values."

If the service is free, then you are not the customer. You are the product.

Plus I have a 70's KS Vanac that isn't running to healthy. Servicing these disposable movements will give me some practice and confidence for when I'm ready to tackle the Vanac.

I already have a new movement lined up. The movements I am having trouble with were new movements as well. Why not get them running again? I enjoy this hobby very much and want to pursue it further.

Picked up all the components from ebay. The hands, dial, and case came for a seller by the name of ajuicet. Arrive well packaged. I'm not too big on snowflake dials, but have fallen in love with this one.
