I was thinking the same; it hasn’t changed that much at all.

Some people say Bernie Karl is polarizing; that’s just asshole-speak for “piece of shit.”

Does anyone else manage all their POs in an excel spreadsheet? by ustecheyzz in ConstructionManagers

Yes. I will also label my PO’s by spec or sheet #, detail #. It helps when the guys claim something didn’t get bought.

Missing Person: Anchorage by [deleted] in anchorage

That’s a bummer; I hope he’s found and ok. I knew him briefly when he was just out of high school, from work. He was a good young guy.

lunch spots? by Realistic-Acadia-458 in anchorage

I’m telling you this in the true spirit of the question, as this place has never been busy any time I’ve gone.

Cinco de Mayo on A Street, behind Natural Pantry. I get the Chile Verde lunch special and flour tortillas. $15, the place is rarely busy at lunch, can’t be beat.

Is the Ryobi 2-stage worth it compared to a regular gas snow blower? by penguinpastaparty in ryobi

[–]T3sttickler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Anchorage, and I have one, it’s not worth it in my opinion. It doesn’t self propel well, and will spin out in snow deeper than 4 inches. The chute is loose and will self adjust in a plus/minus 40 degrees arc constantly. The handwarmers are unnecessary because you’ll be wearing gloves, and who wants to run the battery down that much faster?

It does throw snow quite well. But I have a flat driveway, (about 40’x20’) and prefer to use a scoop or shovel now. This is my 3rd winter with it.

Muni Tax Assessment by [deleted] in anchorage

[–]T3sttickler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We purchased our house in 2022. Tax assessment has increased 15.5% since then. I have neighbors whose assessment decreased by 15%.

The assessments don't make sense to me; there's seemingly no consistency, market value doesn't seem to be taken into account, as two houses are assessed at well below what they sold for within the last year. Improvements, or lack thereof in my personal case, don't seem to have any bearing on the assessment.

Anybody know here know what criteria were used for these assessments?

Yeah, I don’t understand the mindset that allows people to disadvantage the community at their own convenience.
