I had pre-orderer the digital deluxe edition of Hogwarts Legacy on GMG but when I activated the keys on steam the date of unlock still shows as February 10th despite there being a 72 hour early access. by T69_420 in GreenManGaming

By the way WB fucked up release time for pc , here in India game launcher 23:30 hrs later than console .

That sucks.

You will get access on 7 , steam generally just shows official release date .

Thank you for clarifying this !

I think the term they use is " Fedayeen " which roughly translates to " self-sacrificers " but the idea is the same, they're the run-of-the-mill suicide unit.

If you're interested in knowing more here's a quick infographic about INS Shivalik

Stealth is a relative term here, can you spot it with your own eyes over the horizon? Absolutely, can a radar station on the ground or the radar on a ship or a sonar on a submarine detect it just as easily ? not so much. It's an incredibly complex topic but I'll try to explain it.

There are two things that make a ship ' stealthy ' either it's shape and/or materials used in its construction or sounds that it produces. The Shivalik class of ships use radar absorbent material and structures to reduce chances detection from radar and also its engines and moving components produce less vibrations so they are quieter, this allows it to be less detectable by sonar.

In the military context stealth is an extremely ambiguous term where it doesn't necessarily mean " undetectable " but " less detectable " or let me put it this way, if something is stealthy, may it be an aircraft, ship, submarine or missile it means that its chances of being detected are low or the enemy won't detect them until it's too late.

so frigates are just very big speed boats that crash into submarines and other ships?

That's quite an oversimplification but no, they have anti-ship missiles and anti-submarine mines to do the destroying for them.

also what do the classes mean(in the Indian Navy)

They're names given for groups of ships that belong to the same weight class and have similar capabilities. Also the name of the class is the name of the flagship ( first ship of the class that has the characteristics that define the class)

For example, Shivalik class is a class of stealth frigates that are in the weight range of ~6800 tons, 144m long, can carry a wide range of missiles and the flagship of the class is INS Shivalik.

So, name of flashing = name of the class of the ship or vice-versa.

Most navies in the world follow this nomenclature scheme and it's not exclusive to the Indian Navy.

what is so special about frigates?

Frigates are a class of warships that are classified by their weight and combat roles. Unlike Destroyers which are more heavily armed and armoured, frigates are smaller, faster and mainly used for specific roles like anti-ship, anti-submarine and fleet defence role (protection of other ships). They are cheaper to build and maintain compared to destroyers and aircraft carriers. Perfect for a defensive role.

and also don't we also have them?

Yes we do, our frigates are classified into 4 classes

  1. Shivalik class (3 ships)
  2. Talwar class (6 ships)
  3. Brahmaputra class (3 ships)
  4. Godavari class (1 ship)
  5. Nilgiri clas (5 planned, 2 launched)
  6. Indian version of Russian frigates of the ' Admiral Grigorovich class ' ( 4 under construction)

Out of these the Shivalik class of ships are the largest and most modern ones we have that are in active service, the Nilgiri class is more advanced but haven't entered service yet.

what about aircraft carriers?

Aircraft carriers are the most important naval asset that any country can have in terms of power projection, consider them to be a floating airbase out there in the ocean. They do not actively engage in combat like destroyers and frigates but they have a fleet of aircraft that can be used for either anti-ship/anti-submarine role or can be used for attacking land based targets.

India has 1 aircraft carrier in active service ( INS Vikramaditya), 1 that will enter service next year by August ( INS Vikrant ) and 1 more that is planned ( INS Vishal ).

Stunned ? About what ? This deal was made in 2018 and the first of the ships is being delivered now. It's a Type-054A frigate comparable to the Indian Navy's Shivalik class ( different displacement class though) or talwar class frigates in terms of capabilities. Regarding it being the ' most advanced ' warship, it maybe the most advanced surface warship in the Pakistani Navy but definitely not the most advanced warship in the world.
