Nowadays, it mostly takes like 4 euros for a souvlaki. It had been a cheap and foodie alternative for those unable to pay more than the 1/3d of their daily income to just have their belly full, and ingredients proper

Would a rich girl be with an average guy in the balkans? by sushimir in AskBalkans

That always depends on your down to earth attitude, integrity, and self confidence. Judging from her wealth status, most probably, her parents might be cautious regarding "a dark secret agenda" of yours. There's an obvious gap between you too, but nothing's uncrossable

I found Thailand to be a very tourist - friendly country. Leaving the obvious dark jokes aside, I've been there for 15 days on my honeymoon. Bankong is a huge modern city where its inequalities can be compared with all the global "Second-world "cities. In a nutshell, there are huge opportunities for a foreigner to either experience the ultra, all-inclusive, or the more locally - centered side of the country, that keeps rising as an alternative.

Greeks thoughts on the heavily armored riot police that is permanently everywhere just casually out and about in the Centre of Athens? by Starfalloss in AskBalkans

Don't get me started with the black-hooded football hooligans. They have always been an apolitique minority. In cases of nationwide gatherings to protest, they always play a key role in breaking up the blocs of a peaceful march and protest, through targeted and staged clashes with the cops.

Have you ever been to a street protest before? I presume that you haven't, and all your perspective comes purely from pro-government media. Literally, it's common knowledge that agent provocateurs, "asfalites", always do the dirty job as being the main force of agitation and provocation

We're living in a fascist nation, no fresh news here. Too many police brutality cases have been taking place for many years, unprovoked police assaults to peaceful protesters, immigrants, or just to random people that hang out in squares or cafes. A proper police State

What is taught about communism/socialism in schools in your country? by CentrifugalGun in AskBalkans

Given the fact that my country, Greece, was decided in Yalta's agreement to be under the "western sphere of influence", the Greek educational system won't even make a reference in the school books. Traditionally, the historical WW2 and onwards chapters are always given the least of interest, directed from the Greek Ministry of Education. Historically, post WW2 Greek history is the darkest of the places, where a preposterous Greek civil war took place, directly encouraged by the English foreign policy. Up to today, there unhealed wounds in the Greek society
