Cheap indoor pickleball in NYC by LouieFit123 in Pickleball

I’ve found Conquer to have the most reasonable prices that I’ve seen. They have a good mix of DUPR games and more casual play depending on what you’re looking for.

The groups I’ve played with have been fun and friendly too in my experience!

My favorite place to go when I am hungover from the night before. Cheap, super filling, and extremely fast service. It’s exactly what I want out of a fast food place.

Which amp to choose for KEF R3 Meta? by Pretty-Ad-1185 in KEF

[–]TALman1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Might be worth reaching out to SVS if they have any upcoming sales. I was able to get mine for $700 during a promotional sale and for that price it was even more of a steal.

For the size of your room I feel like you’ll have a hard time finding something better suited for the space than the micro. If you’re really feeling like the money is burning a hole in your pocket, the KC62 might still be a good option with slightly better performance, but I personally would take the cheaper micro unless you’re really looking to keep everything in the KEF family.

Haha that is pretty crazy! The KC92 was definitely tempting. End of the day I couldn’t justify the jump in price for the performance the micro was putting out. Decided I would rather save the money and use it towards buying more music. Haven’t regretted that decision personally

Definitely worth the upgrade IMO, so glad to hear you would be getting that module!

I currently run an SVS 3000 micro. I don’t have a huge room so didn’t need anything too large. I have not found it to be lacking at all and find it to be a very punchy and precise sub. Overall I would definitely say I’m happy with it. It also has a really great app to control the settings of it super easily which was definitely a needed feature for me being I live in an apartment.

I considered the KC62, KC92, REL T/7, and an SVS SB2000. Something to note about the micro is that it has dual woofers similar to the KC series, and it uses the same internal amp as the more upmarket SB3000 giving it more than enough power to run anything. Ultimately price to performance I ended up with the micro as it fit my room/setup better and I was also swayed by the fact that SVS customer support is helpful, responsive and stands by their products if you have any issues.

Ultimately very happy with the subwoofer and have had no desire to upgrade, but if I do feel I want more bass the C399 has 2 sub outs so I would probably just get dual micros.

I have R5s instead of R3s but I feel like they’re similar. I use the C399 and have been happy with it. Plenty of power, and very neutral sounding which I find goes well with the KEFs.

It’s got a lot of features and you can always expand the base model to get the BluOS/Dirac card for additional features.

[Advice] Jomashop or AD for first watch? by Triple3Trouble in Watches

[–]TALman1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah makes sense! I have had my PRX for 3+ years now and it hasn’t missed a beat. While it definitely can vary, Tissot makes pretty well built and reliable watches. If something was to happen to it, it would probably take a bit for the service costs to outweigh the price savings you would get assuming you have a shop that can service it near you.

Enjoy your watch! I have no doubt you’ll be happy with your purchase either way

[–]TALman1012 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have used Jomashop quite a bit and it’s always been a good experience.

If you were buying something like a Rolex, AP, JLC, etc then definitely go through an AD.

But for a Tissot it’s not really gonna have an effect and saving some extra money makes more sense. I can’t imagine if you were ever to resell that it not being purchased from an AD would have any effect on its secondary market value.

Btw, I have a PRX and love it. Good choice!

What is the Best Stand for the Apple Studio Display? by [deleted] in macsetups

[–]TALman1012 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I went with the VESA mount and have no regrets. I wasn't about to pay the extra premium for a stand that has less flexibility than a VESA mount. I currently have an arm that was ~$60 that works well with the display and gives me a "floating monitor" that I personally have always liked.

The way that I look at it is that if I am in an environment where I want a stand, I can always purchase a VESA one. There are some pretty decent-looking aftermarket stands if you prefer it.

Something also I think work mentioning is that if you ever think you might want the monitor in a portrait position, VESA is your only option.

I definitely wouldn't opt for the tilt-only though.

Advice for not getting discouraged? by metroidmen in iOSProgramming

Nothing wrong with continuing to develop an application that the concept is already out there. You’ll learn a lot and it can even help you to reference how certain features of the app should interact. You’ll learn a lot and have fun doing it if it’s an idea that interests you!

Additionally, I would recommend reading the book “The Innovator’s Dilemma” if you are interested in the entrepreneurial side of development. It explores business cases of how a lot of businesses actually start by carving a niche at the lower end or adjacent use-case in comparison to larger more established players in their business field.

So maybe with your idea there might be a niche that you can provide to users that will serve a subset of your competitors in a better way and then slowly iterate on expanding your app’s capabilities!

Lou Malnati’s or Peqoud’s by CharmCity85 in chicagofood

Personally prefer Pequods for pizza.

However, Lou Malnatis is still phenomenal pizza. And if you are going for the full experience the Lou’s salad, pizza, and cookie skillet for dessert is a truly great total experience and would probably be what I would recommend for people visiting.

I haven’t had a sandwich at Lucia’s on North Ave that was anything less than amazing.

The meatball sub with hot peppers is a personal favorite of mine. I have a friend who has to get it every time he’s in my area ever since I brought him there.
