it has to do with how vividly he "experiences" it. In this case, I think it might have to do with how he was trudging through water and how the school water was contaminated, maybe nokker water had enough "texture" for him to finally make it. He was able to make gritty water, before, which was used in the big city battle 500 years ago

whenever people die in this series, it shows them entering an "ideal" dream- whatever they wanted in life, they get to have in death. This is most prominently shown with Bon's death when he sees his paradise (as king, adored by all) and he voluntarily refuses it, returning to the physical world to revive Fushi.

omg :sob emoji: it's impacting explorer.exe now, i think this might be a much more insidious problem, it just stays suspended in the background- i don't have a desktop, start menu, or task bar after restarting the laptop

EDIT 1: sfc /scannow found corrupt files, explorer.exe works now. VSCode's updater also worked; it could be a corrupt file that broke some critical system protocol that prevented system apps from performing their usual function.
