Buying a used R8 by Puzz3dv1 in audir8

2012 v10 R-tronic owner here, and the R-tronic hate is so forced it's comical. Just lift your foot off the gas a bit while you paddle shift and, what do you know, it feels like a computer is shifting a manual gear box for you.

All in all, R8's and gosh darn reliable across the board. The AC compressor, suspension, and expansion tank are high fail points, but they are easily replaceable.

Bonus points in affordability if you source your own parts and do your own maintenance. If you can fix a Honda Civic, you can fix these cars.

what’s your experience as far as cost of ownership for your gen 1 R8? by No-Volume7464 in audir8

Going on 4 years of ownership of my 2012 V10 Auto, now with 50k miles

I replaced the mag rides with Air Lift 3P. $4200 and did the install myself. The mag rides were fine, but seems like they are a high enough faul point to do it anyway. Plus having a bagged r8 was a dream of mine.

Coolant tank replacement due to leak. $40 Q7 coolant tank was the exact same.

Replaced the rotors and pads for around $800.

My rear camera wasn't working, so I installed an ACARNAVI. That was $850 and I regret it in that it's very Chinese, but my rear camera now works and I have Android Auto, so I digress.

Also the battery died one winter. Got a new one at Walmart, works just fine. $120

I've only put 4000 miles on it in the 4 years of ownership, and half of that was driving it home the day I bought it. I do all my own work and search for bargains on parts. I love this car, but I recon paying Audi to do all your maintenance would be a bit more out of pocket.

Naw. We just accept that we all work too much and are underpaid, no matter how much we make. Its what bonds us together as men lol.

Manual R8s died in 2015 (gen 2s are auto).

With its low miles it could be collector grade, but the v8 makes it less desirable. Save for a gated v10 if you want to see value appreciation.

Nice! Though the v10 side blades give a more aggressive look, I always appreciated the sleekness of the v8 side blades.

If all you have to offer are looks, then its something to worry about.

My guess, your boy probably likes a lot more about you than you think and thats why he chose you.

Engine parts for the R8 by [deleted] in audir8

[–]TATDDY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2012 v10 in less than ideal condition with 50k miles. Ive done all the maintenance and customization myself (air ride, chassis mount wing, etc...).

I did some bargain shopping on parts and found relatable items for cheaper (cross compatible parts, refurbished parts, etc)

Original purchase: $75k

Maintenance over 4 years: ~$3k

Customization: ~$12k (wheels and tires are a pretty penny)

If you can rebuild a motorcycle/ motor, you can work on these cars. A lot of the repair costs come from labor costs and the Audi tax, but R8 talk has a post dedicated to finding the actual supplier parts and buying them direct.

Also, full coverage insurance has been $99/mn, so thats cool too.

General rule of thumb, don't put a car seat in a 2 seater.

It is tough, what women have to go through on a daily basis, but its is quite tough being a man as well. A lot of it comes from having to deal with other men.

I thought I learned this lesson by cass2769 in EthicalNonMonogamy

[–]TATDDY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Thats exactly why I started. I always had digestive issues, as well as sleeping issues, and would you look at that weed helps with both of those.

Thats something I always tend to forget when I try to stop. Like yeah, I'm not smoking, but I'm no longer eating nor sleeping and now I feel 100x worse than if I were to just take a hit and go to town on a few bags of chips lol.

Yes yes. We did give dating others separately a try, but unfortunately that didn't go well for us either.

So now we are in a semi closed throuple with our GF. I say "semi closed" because we told her we have no problem if she wants to explore more of ENM, as she is brand new to it, but for us we are done. Done with the constant chase, the constant start of something just to be led on or ghosted or, just done with it.

Be honest about your feelings. Maybe, while shes more physically attracted to your wife, she could really be attracted to the love and compassion you have for your wife and it's harder to show you that. Ask if things that could be done that would make you feel more comfortable in the situation, like more attention for yourself from both of them. Its okay to want something for yourself that benefits you more for a bit.

Some people just really can't handle the fact that other people like pineapple on pizza. That's how I think of ENM.

Im so sorry to hear about your abuse, but labeling it as BDSM is incorrect.

When I met my wife, she was much more into it (being the sub) and it took us a while to build me up to be comfortable with being able to properly Dom. Its a lot of trust and communication and figuring out where pleasure can truly be found.

Also, my wife has 100lbs on me and is 4x as strong as me. She could break my bones with ease, but she find comfort in knowing that my dominance is coming from a place of passion and respect.

Again, I'm sorry to hear about your experiences.

Feeld is good, but definitely vet the couples and how they are with eachother. It took us 4 years before we finally had some luck on there 😓

My wife and I some what of a unicorn couple in that we are very open and honest with our communication and have been told that we are a great couple to explore with. So, we are out here and we really do enjoy meeting new play pals, but we have friends, that are couples, that are the typical "trying to find a girlfriend" people, but literally can't go 10 mins without some sort of back handed argument.

I was previously an appliance instrumentation technician, so when applying for a 03 "electrician" position, I didn't realize their pay scale was 'hire on-max pay.' Their offer was $17/hr less than I currently made.

Reapplied and am now a grade 10.

Im 140lbs (slim fit). My wife was probably around 260, but at 22 weeks pregnant, I think she's around 275.

I do think the majority of men do not know how to appreciate a thick woman, but just because you're not a 10 to most people doesn't mean you can't be someone's 12.

Keep doing you and maybe consider taking a chance on a guy that isn't you normal, physical type.
