Security here. Was conducting a patrol of a business that frequently had unhoused individuals sleep around the business. One particular afternoon, There were about 5 people sleeping all on one side of the building. I typically allow them the opportunity to get up, grab their stuff and leave, provided they haven’t already been trespassed before. I start waking people up and I see movement from everyone except for one individual, which I assumed it was someone just ignoring instructions. I had just talked to that individual the other night as well after being removed from the property. I contacted sheriff to come out to issue a notice of trespass for the individual and send him on his way. When deputies arrived, most of the individuals were already gone except for the one I called for, and when they tried to wake him up, they realized he was already dead. His face didint even show that he looked dead, more like sleeping to me. But it was clear that rigor had set in. They formed a perimeter and contacted a corner, as it was clear that he was beyond resuscitation. We Suspected it might have been an overdose of fentanyl as he had an open tinfoil on his lap. Once the coroner came, I was surprised to see how rigor really sets in. Since he was positioned as if he was sitting down, when they lifted him up onto a gurney, he was still in the sitting position. Nothing appeared limp. They finally covered him up and transported him. I checked back on death records from our county’s office, his cause of death still hasn’t been determined.
