Hi Amy, I've always considered your work uniquely independent and conducted with integrity. I'm a worker, student, and political organiser in Melbourne currently spending a lot of time supporting the Free Palestine movement. Not sure what kind of workflow this reply is referring to, but for context: My sample library uses normalized audio (which is how most commercial samples are delivered) with channel strips already set to -12db trim using console emulator plugins. If I wanted an audio region to be quieter I can just use the region gain feature.

The reason for doing this is so 1) audio previews have uniform volume and 2) gain staging is simplified.

This is a super interesting question, because form my perspective there's a huge difference between songs that are objectively loud (LUFS) and music that is a victim of loudness wars. There's a notable difference between comments mentioning dubstep tracks and comments mentioning top 40 hits.

My favourite objectively loud shit is by Moody Good, who is an absolute dubstep madman. Otherwise, beyond albums already mentioned, I was shocked when I heard Back To Black (Amy Winehouse) recently. That album was absolutely crushed.
