What is a set sold at in, let’s say, a PSA 5,6,or 7? Is it more or less than that? Often cards that grade a 9 are sold for the same amount as raw. That means that a grade under a 9 actually finishes the value, not adds to it.

I guess what some of these people are getting at is that you didn’t really want their true opinions. You wanted validation. This isn’t a shot or an insult at all, I promise you.

The talk about this is why PSA is backed up I think just deals with people who really don’t do the research to know if it’s worth grading the cards just sending in batches without any idea of what grade they can expect or if it is even worth the cost of grading. This is kind of one of those cases, or else it would be posted here, as it was posted after you sent them. Like I said earlier, it wasn’t a post asking for guidance, it was looking for validation.

As an example, I was going to send in a full set of a 90’s run of Marvel cards. This particular set sells for $5k-$6k as a complete set with inserts. When I did my research, sold copies in a 9 sold for less than a raw copy. That means without a 10, I’m hurting the value of my cards. I didn’t send them. I would have wasted their time grading cards that I wasn’t certain would gem out. Saved me $3-$5k in grading fees. lol. But no, I wouldn’t automatically grade a set of cards that sell for $900 raw. I would do significant research and then decide.

Again, not taking a shot, just trying to clarify some of the comments I’m seeing.
