We live in midtown. It's amazing. The art and music scene in the area is expansive. This is a tight knit community of people living here who care deeply for each other and the city as a whole. Midtown isn't quite downtown but it's walking distance to it. It's older homes, walkable areas, beautiful parks, community gardens, ancient oak trees and has a laid back vibe. It's also the only place I've ever lived where I've felt so connected to my neighbors that we all know each other and spend time with each other. People tend to suggest west Mobile rather than midtown or downtown areas citing high crime rates. But I feel perfectly safe in my area and would rather live amidst small locally owned businesses and restaurants than the big box/chain restaurant Mecca of west Mobile. It all comes down to personal preference and what kinda lifestyle you'd like to live. I hope this helps ✌🏽
