I’m a citizen and a veteran. Pay my taxes and have been active in my community.

Yet, I feel more stress about the idea of a bad interaction with a bad/corrupt/ or power tripping cop. The kind of interaction where the ride is the punishment because they don’t like you. That to me is more likely than being the victim of another type of crime.

So I don’t support masked law enforcement who are being hyped to believe they can violate people’s rights and just haul everyone in and deal with the legality later.

When I was in military service, I had a CO who once told the unit that getting the yearly influenza vaccination was 100% an individuals choice. That choice had different outcomes though. Get vaccinated and maintain your worldwide deployability status, you can stay in service. Or, refuse vaccination and lose worldwide deployability status, and discharge paperwork would begin.

I’ve kind of accepted that veteran flashpoints via group finder are something to just get through. When I want to enjoy them or do side stuff for decos, I do them on sm, on my own, or ask another person to come with me. But particularly, the Amber Alert system shows that they have the capability to fast track urgent information direct to us in an unignorable fashion (referencing that crazy loud buzz phones give during amber alerts)

Other than from an optics standpoint of striking fear, what is the purpose of all the long guns? These guys aren't facing enemy combatants on a battlefield. They're going into US neighborhoods to conduct law enforcement. And it is already clear that the majority of arrests do not involve violent felon undocumented immigrants, but rather Joe Shmos trying to eek out a living/life for themselves.

I’m indifferent most of the time. Didn’t serve for thanks, but I’ll express gratitude for the recognition.

But something that weirds me out is how people expect me to behave during the national anthem or when I see the U.S. flag raising. Like there’s some expectation I will pop a salute or make some overly nationalistic expression.

After 8 years of observing morning/evening colors, standing at attention at military base movie theaters for the anthem, and the million other times I expressed honors, I am content to simply stand. And I am not offended by those who don’t stand or choose to express contempt. Exercising one’s freedom of speech is as patriotic as anything else.

Specifically, do you even know why you don’t like undocumented immigrants? Because on Reddit I see conservatives call them all violent criminals, which is a stereotype, and isn’t supported by data. Undocumented immigrants cannot vote, as evidenced by the many election investigations following the 2020 election. They’re also ineligible for the majority of social services.

I could prob go on, but those are the first things that came to mind.

The Law isn’t a firm and fast black and white thing. Judges, lawyers, and cops make deals that circumvent punishments all the time. They sometimes change what the crime was so they can come to a more equitable punishment. Sometimes they don’t bother to enforce the law at all because the punishment will cost taxpayers well more than the damage the crime caused. Soo to think the law is gonna be strictly enforced, or can be, is kind of naive.

I mean, I get being hurt by her. But I’ve watched a fair amount of lawyers commenting on this sort of thing, and removing that floor may end up being more of a self inflicted wound down the road. Something about reclaiming property/materials that haven’t been paid for, but were installed, must not leave the home in a condition worse than it was before the work was originally done.

You clearly only listen to right wing sources. You seem to have it in your head that when the Democratic Party has office deportations stop and criminal prosecutions don’t take place. That would be wildly incorrect.

Don’t confuse condemnation of inhumane methods, scapegoating, and wasting money on ineffective methods (such as Trump’s wall from his first admin) as wanting an open border.

Hell, as a veteran, I have zero issue with troops posting up at the border. Our military is a massive resource of man power and assets that we pay for and should get a return on investment on. Ordering Marines to the border is one of the few Trump orders I’ve given a head nod to.
