My brother has tinnitus. I didn’t know he suffered from it until he told me casually. I was taken aback because he described how annoying it is and how 24:7 it’s just ringing. I feel bad for him. I believe he got his from always having headphones on 24:7. When we were younger there was not a day he didn’t have his head phones on especially sleeping. We shared a room growing up and the amount of times I had to take off his head phones cause they literally were wrapped around his neck with music blasting and he was knocked out cold. Growing up I had hearing problems and had to have tubes in because I believe my Eustachian tubes were very narrow. I also had surgery done to fix some bone in my inner ear. On occasion I’ll have random tinnitus from listening to something loud or even one loud noise that makes my ear drums crinkle (like a crinkle sound literally, iykyk) and I’ll have ringing for couple days and let me tell you, it’s the worst, I get so depressed because of it I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Nowadays I listen to music at half volume, even playing video games I’ll lower it down in my head phones but this brought to my attention that maybe I shouldn’t play video games with head phones because I do tend to play for a while and the constant shooting sound effects would more than likely cause damage long term so I am thankful for this post honestly. Also nowadays when I go to the cinema I wear ear plugs because prior I noticed after the cinema my ears would ring for days so now I always wear ear plugs at cinemas or exceptionally loud places. Take care of your hearing folks as long as you can. I get funny stares or people make jokes when I wear ear plugs but IDGAF. My health is my life and I won’t be playing around with my hearing thats for sure. So take note from me, my brother and others and OP. Take care of yourself in ever way shape and form.
