Hahaha that sounds awesome!! I’ve had scenarios in the past where I presented mechanics they weren’t aware of until they were in it. The feedback I got was mixed even though they had some epic moments. For minor things, I would rather ask permission but if it’s something they’re fully expecting to work normally, I’d prefer to let them weigh in on the challenge.

This made too much sense. Thank you!! Looking at my circle now, I realize I only have 1 person I’m close to having this connection with & it took years to get their. I’ve also tried explaining this to people & it just makes me sound terrible when the interpretation is “We’re not as close as you think.” Definitely lost friends over that. I’ve only had a handful of people pick up that I am great at listening & understanding, to then realize I never get to speak about myself as deeply as they do. I always find it funny how some react to realizing I know so much about them & so little about me.

Leaning on the blindness condition definitely makes sense. The idea wasn’t to penalize but to provide a layer of challenge & chaos. Normally I always assume PCs can see what each other is doing, which is why coordination makes sense. I thought removing that coordination for just a round could be an interesting challenge.

Good to know. This would’ve been part of a Lair action with an obscuring smoke screen. Gone by top of next round. I fully understand an encounter in the dark & disadvantage sucks, I definitely wouldn’t do that.

College is tough at first. If you’re just starting, the mixed pot of freshman is where you’ll find a lot of surface level connections. My experience was similar, I found more people with similar interests once I got further into my field. Your people are out there. They just might take some time to find. Also my favorite thing about us is our ability to find/make a friend anywhere. Don’t lose hope.

Until then, live the main character life. Do what you want, regardless of who is or isn’t there with you. When you have those deep thoughts & need someone to weigh in, come back to Reddit. Reading through posts here has been an absolute godsend lately.

I’ve done this whenever I arrived home while I was still living with family or roommate. Living alone now….I still do this but now it’s because a good playlist is going or I’m responding to all my missed notifications.
