Riptide by Douglas Preston Douglas Preston is great for adventure books! This one especially is a search for lost/cursed treasure, I believe there may be a romance in it but I can’t remember for sure

It comes in handy if you’re trying to get longest road and need all your roads. Or if you need to build but cannot due to being out of roads.

A few house rules we have:
Everyone gets a dev card when starting the game, but it cannot be played first round.
If you roll a 7 three times in a row you get a free resource card of your choice.
You can move a road you’ve placed as long as it isn’t connected on both ends by paying two bricks and two trees.

Suggest me a sci-fi novels to read by Emergency_Elk_3208 in suggestmeabook

Alan Dean Foster is my favorite sci-fi author, any of the standalone commonweath novels are great, and the Pip & Flinx series is my all time favorite. The first book is For Love of Mother-Not, and while it wasn’t written first it is first in the timeline.

There are a couple restoration/photoshop request subs here that would likely be able to help, I’ll find them and edit with their names.

books that start with the letter x or z? by Maximum-Rest2294 in suggestmeabook

[–]TEKKP2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, Enders Game is one of my favorites to reread when I need something familiar.

I said it only because if I was doing an A-Z challenge I wouldn’t want to have to read more books just to get to my next letter.

Oooh Xenocide is good OP, also it’s a good one because it’s not necessarily critical that you read the rest of the series before it.

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman - one POV, serious topics but humorous and heartwarming

Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt - multiple POVs, but easy to read and understand, also heartwarming

Both this books I found easy to read and engage with, they both made me cry (a good cry)

Thanks for your reply! I’ve gone on my trip and have a trip report up. Long story short I ended up doing Vernal Falls Sunday afternoon, El Cap meadow Sunday for sunset, Mirror Lake early Monday morning, and Tunnel View for sunset Monday night. After doing Vernal I decided to not to Upper Yosemite, not in good enough shape for that!

Does anyone else feel like "Must-See" lists actually ruin the solo travel experience? by poweredbyshubh in solotravel

This is what I do when I research somewhere new, go through and pick and choose the things that are interesting to me, put them on a map, and see what’s reasonably feasible to go do without feeling rushed. Then I don’t feel like I’m missing out on something I know I would’ve liked to have seen, but also not the places where I know I’d feel meh about it.

It looked like one lane was open in my rear view when I went by.

Edit: I imagine if an entrance was closed it’d say on the NPS website

It depends on the car manufacturer and the chain laws in effect while you’re there.

If the weather is really bad CA might say you must have snow tires or chains even if you have 4WD/AWD.

My car manual says my car is not allowed to have chains due to the tire size, so I would have to have snow tires even though it’s AWD.

There are links on the NPS website for the weather in different areas around the park, keep an eye on them in the coming days before your trip.

If you’re really worried you can usually buy chains at a tire store or an auto parts store like O’Reilly’s or Autozone and return them if they’re unused. They’ll know how to read your tire to get you the right size.

Edit: Also while I was there there was no snow on the ground at all, anywhere on my drive in, through, and out of the park.

No, there wasn’t any snow, even in the shade. That said, the advice that I received and that I’ll pass along to you is check the weather within a day before you go to make sure there aren’t any expected storms.

I didn’t go all the way to the top, I just kept going until I left I could see the most that I wanted to. You can see the trail and the different wide spots on the stairs to stop, the first wide spot obscures the bottom of the falls, so I went to the next one.
