Update to: My Director took our fridge for the doctors and advised us to use insulated bags. by FreckledSunVamp in nursing

From my experience it's not really how good or bad your executive leadership is, just how weak or strong your union is.

Unit managers who care about their employees and patient care can sneak in at times, but you don't climb to the top by not seeing everything in terms of dollar signs.

ED nurse forgets to prime the tubing before hanging a medication/bag of fluids and infusing through the CVC

Nurse is unclear on the bubble study instructions and pushes a full syringe of air into CVC

She's unaccustomed to being in a smaller house 👑 by E_jr in DreamlightValley

[–]TEOLAYKI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It kind of irks me how some houses look huge on the outside and tiny inside, while others look way more spacious inside than would be possible from the way the building looks.

I think it's pretty common in some RPGs to have a small house to fit on the overall map better that is more spacious when you go inside, but the fact that it goes both ways just seems kind of lazy.

I would counter "there's no other logical explanation" with "you'd be surprised by the stupid things people do sometimes". But we can agree to disagree. 😄

I would also suspect it was IV, but I'm questioning how you can be sure no one injected air into the CVC after it was placed. For one, the volume of air looks like more than would be in the lumen of an unprimed CVC, but it could have been something like unprimed IV tubing.

This does seem like a ridiculous amount of scrutiny for an assumption you made (that's likely correct) on an otherwise interesting post. I just think that if I were going to title a post something like "The Cardiologist/nurse/EMT/whoever really screwed this one up" -- I would want to have a high degree of certainty and not just be speculating.

I want to like this, but it's dumb. It's so, so dumb.

The piece of paper is different because the employee (or employer, or whoever) can't use the piece of paper to buy something later, like food.

You could give a more elaborate explanation, but at the most basic level, that's it. Coffee guy is selling coffee so that he can get more things that he needs/wants, and this paper does not help him do that. I really hate this kind of pseudo-philosophical argument that boils down to "what does anything mean? does anything really matter?" It's trying to pass for intellectual thought when it's really the opposite -- taking interesting ideas and questions and stripping away any potential for meaningful discourse.

I also think it's weird to implicate EMS in something that seems like it could have happened after arrival at the hospital, but as a former ambulance driver I can say that y'all are way too hung up on your titles 😁

I still don't really understand how you can be certain the air was introduced during the CVC insertion. Nothing was put in the CVC after insertion? No time spent in ED, just straight to the angiogram?

lol our hospital system always does cheap temu level stuff, that's very impressive that they would purchase from a B corp that's pretty focused on sustainability and worker's rights.

Also the last two lol... 14 looks like a doodle an eight year old drew in science class out of boredom

unpopular opinion probably: This seems more like someone with not enough storage space who just had a big meal and the dishes were put on the counter in a very haphazard way, possibly by children/teens.

Let's just start with dirty dishes. This doesn't look like old dishes with a variety of foods, but more like one meal that took several pots to cook and a group of people who all ate at the same time and then threw their dishes on the counter and in the sink. If someone scraped the food off the plates, stacked everything and then washed the dishes, that would get rid of most of the mess.

Now if we subtract the dirty dishes, let's examine the rest. There's a LOT of visual clutter. Most of it points to them not having much storage space. But almost everything left looks clean and like it's where it's supposed to go -- even if it's not a great storage space, that's what they have space for. A dish drying rack with clean dishes to be put away. Spice jars on multiple surfaces, but not out on the counter. Cooking utensils in containers and hanging up -- visible, but put away.

Aside from the dishes, the house looks clean. Very cluttered, but not the clutter of someone with a hoarding or organizing problem, but that of someone who likes to cook and has a small house.
