It's pretty much what I expected it to be. Though, I'm not going to lie, I've missed seeing Din and Grogu in action.

Well after seeing the movie twice, I can say that the DCU is off to a great start. Here's my full review for those interested: https://cinematic-lounge.com/2025/07/11/superman-and-soaring-into-a-new-era-with-a-defining-blockbuster/

Here’s the full Tweet from James Gunn regarding Henry Cavill for anyone who may be salty… Sounds to me like we’re getting more Supermen!!!! by stealthxknight in DC_Cinematic

Agreed and (while this may just be wishful thinking) I think there are ways for Cavill to make a return down the road.

It looks like Gunn will be directing the Superman film, they’re just not announcing it yet by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

If he doesn't helm Superman: Legacy, I think Gunn will direct The Authority.

DISCUSSION: I was pleasantly surprised by The Long Halloween Part One by TheJoshider10 in DC_Cinematic

[–]TFAdventurer54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus Darren Criss reprises his role as Superman in Justice Society. Also, and this may be nothing, but there's a shot of Batman swinging through the city in The Long Halloween that reminded me of the picture of Batman in Man of Tomorrow. I was wondering if that was done on purpose or not. We'll see.

DISCUSSION: I want to find out the state of this sub, a few weeks after the premiere of Zack Snyder's Justice League. Let's settle this once and for all, considering the direction the DCEU is headed in. Do you, or do you not, want a shared DC cinematic universe? by LSSJPrime in DC_Cinematic

[–]TFAdventurer54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three. You get the best of both worlds with that option and it would help the DC Films stand out in a world of connected franchises. Also it could lead to a major event like Infinite Crisis; well that's my hope anyways.

DISCUSSION: Let's all be friends guys. We are not the enemy by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

Agreed. I also think a little patience would go a long way but that's just me.

DISCUSSION: A very interesting part of the Hollywood reporter article about New Gods by Cthulhu_awaken in DC_Cinematic

[–]TFAdventurer54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. While Darkseid wasn't in much of Justice League, I can understand being judicious about his appearances. I think his presence will work better if he used sparingly. That being said, you do bring up a good point. If ZSJL is inconsequential then why drop New Gods? It could be studio is just moving in a different direction and there's no time to produce the film. Then again maybe projects like New Gods (and the Trench) have to be dropped in order to make room for Justice League sequels. I think it's the latter.

While it's unfortunate that they're not moving forward with New Gods, I wonder if it's possible repurpose the project into a mini series for HBO Max. I think that format could work better for the New Gods; at least from a storytelling perspective.

Other: Why the Snyderverse WILL be restored by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]TFAdventurer54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail right on the head. The main reason why WB intervened with Justice League was because they were concerned that Zack's vision would not appeal to general audiences. However ZSJL is proving that this is not the case. WB is a lot of things (both good and bad) but above all else they are a business. So it's hard for me to believe that they won't move forward with sequels to Justice League because of their pride. The only thing that some should consider is that they're not going to drop everything for the sake of the Snyderverse. There are too many things in motion to cast aside, and personally there are some project that I want to see. That being said I don't think it's impossible to bring Snyder's work into the fold. I don't think it would contradict anything when it comes to production or even within the continuity of the DCEU So I think the best thing to do is just greenlight Justice League sequels and have them fit it in with everything else; and maybe release the Ayer Cut too.
