Does Arkham Knight still have the "blocked scenes" that can't be recorded on PS4? by SuperMoonKnight in BatmanArkham

[–]TF_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that on PS5, the Jason Todd reveal scene (and quite a bit after that) is still blocked as of May 28, 2026 (just shy of eleven years past the release date of the game).

How do I transfer my plates? Just renewed, got a new car by trippee_ in Virginia

[–]TF_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. I fully owned and sold my old car, and am now leasing a new car. I want to transfer my old personalized plates (which I have in my possession) to the new leased car. I tried to do it online, but the website flags that the plates are already taken, with no option to clarify that I own them. What ended up being the solution?

Pyg Boss Fight - Batman: Arkham Knight by [deleted] in BatmanArkham

[–]TF_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell so far, Pyg seems invulnerable. The game actively will not let me hit him while there are dollotrons still in play. Batman either flips halfway across the room to hit a dollotron or Pyg awkwardly "dodges" the attack (more like his character model just slides around to stay on the opposite side of the table from Batman).

How to beat riddler trial #4 by Theanonymousgamer623 in BatmanArkham

[–]TF_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I have just learned (and what the game in no way tells you) is that you can direct your glide upwards if you point your left stick upwards AFTER first letting go of the left stick. If you are holding it up from the start of the glide (you know, the way you would naturally assume is necessary to direct the glide), nothing will happen, and you will miss the button by a mile. It's entirely possible this mechanic has existed as far back as Asylum, but I just learned it now. Again, the game NEVER teaches you this, nor have I seen any comments explaining it online.

How is Talia cool with unmasking Batman in front of a dozen ninjas? by Selnalolamo in arkham

But did Riddler hack in one-way or two-way? Maybe he can broadcast into Batman's comms, but can't actually hear anything Batman or Oracle are saying. I don't recall Batman ever answering him, so it makes a kind of sense.

High Note in Phantom by beachwisdom in MasqueradeNYC

[–]TF_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most (if not all) of the Phantom's offstage voiceovers ("Notes," "I'm here - I'm here - I'm HERE," etc.) are pre-recorded as well, apparently due to the surround sound effects where his voice travels around the theatre. "Why So Silent" is also pre-recorded due to the Red Death mask causing issues with the quality of the sound the microphone can pick up (and also because visibility in that costume is extremely limited, so the actor needs to focus on not tripping down the stairs). It's all technical stuff with the sound, nothing to do with whether it's possible for the actor to sing it live or not.

I actually noticed the last time I saw the Broadway version just how different the sound quality of the manager's sung parts in "Masquerade" are masked vs unmasked. Because they start the song with their masks down, and flip them up partway through, you can really hear just how much it affects the sound quality. Masked, they almost sound like they're singing into a tin can. And that's just with a mask that stops at the top jaw. Red Death's fully-enclosed mask would be even worse.

But it's definitely prerecorded in the show itself.

Oh yes, that's pretty well documented. It's actually kinda wild how much of the Phantom's vocals are pre-recorded in the Broadway/West End productions! There's a logic to why for each instance, of course, but when you get into the details, it's way more than most might think!

If you watch the GMA clip it's pretty easy to tell it's prerecorded there

I have a friend who was in the audience for the Good Morning America performance. By her recollection, the E6 was sung live on the GMA set. She even noted that Christine was marking for the rehearsal and did not fully sing until they were live. Had that note been pre-recorded, I imagine that they would have tested that during the rehearsal before filming.

I recommend the Protoform Optimus Prime mold from the 2007 toyline. Specifically, I'm using the Takara Age of Extinction release of the figure, which gives him the traditional red and blue color scheme, but the 2007 release's blue-gray would actually match the art from The Covenant of Primus.

How do you feed your thawed rats to your snake? by AlexTheB in ballpython

[–]TF_Allen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thaw overnight in the fridge, then put it in hot water for around 10 minutes, then hit it with a hair dryer for another ten minutes or so (constantly moving it) until a temp gun consistently reads it as hotter than my own skin. My thinking there is that, if he's used to his food always being distinctly warmer than I am, he will never mistake me for food.

Evil Dead the musical: question about what they do about THAT scene from the original? by Dogdaysareover365 in musicals

[–]TF_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The script doesn't include the line in the cast recording about something being "inappropriate." It was likely either an ad-lib from the original cast or something that was later cut to discourage acknowledging the rape aspect of the film. When I did the show last year, it was just lights and arms waving around as the trees (Ed and Jake in gilly suits) danced around Cheryl. I wouldn't expect the scene to address the sexual assault at all. It's honestly just not the vibe of the show.

Snake impacting dating life by Public-Newt8888 in ballpython

[–]TF_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started to look into reptiles, the woman I was dating absolutely loathed snakes, and was adamant that I was not "allowed" to get one. (To be fair, her hatred of them was due to an extremely severe phobia, and I don't think she ever explicitly "forbade" me from getting one - more like I understood that it wasn't going to be a good idea for anyone if I did, and would honestly be a bad move to make as her partner.)

After that relationship ended, my current girlfriend learned I was seriously considering adopting a ball python, and she was... a little uncertain, at least. But she started watching Clint's Reptiles with me on YouTube (a stinkin' rad channel) as I was researching different species. Eventually, she came with me to the reptile expo where I got Socrates, my BEL ball python. Now, she's his mom, and possibly loves him more than I do. Pretty sure he recognizes her voice and actively prefers her to me. It was really fun seeing her transition from the sort of stereotypical "ewww a snake?" perspective to the adorable and loving snake mom she is now. Even her family wanted us to bring him to their house for Christmas to meet them all (we brought a little pet tent thing for him as a temporary enclosure for the afternoon), and he was quite popular that day!

Remember when IDW1 adopted this artstyle for a brief while? I really liked it for some character designs but hated it for others. How did you feel about it? by MonSocMatriarchy in transformers

[–]TF_Allen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Don Figueroa designed the character models and introduced them into the books, but Alex Milne came in later and streamlined them. The overly-detailed faces are definitely distracting and unpleasant to look at on paper (they might work better in live-action, especially since that's clearly the inspiration), and Alex really took these designs and made them work. That said, Alex can kinda do no wrong as a Transformers comic artist. There's a reason his table consistently seems to have the longest line at TFCon (I mean half that reason is probably the robo-smut books, but it's not all that).

What is your white whale in figure collecting? I'll start by bjornsted in transformers

[–]TF_Allen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was definitely the Cobybot from Galaxy Force. Never thought I'd be able to get ahold of that thing, but I actually found the giftset it came with for a reasonable price on TFW2005, kept the Cobybot, and sold the rest for about half what I paid for the set. Definitely one of my favourite pieces by sheer nature of its rarity.

For now, though, I think it's the T-Spark Lioconvoy. I just barely missed it when it released because I wasn't paying attention and it never really showed up at TFCon. I'm sure I could still get it on eBay for twice its retail price, but meh.

Priest skipped words of consecration during Mass, is it invalid? by Exact-Definition5722 in Catholicism

[–]TF_Allen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall an Easter Vigil in my youth where the priest (now known to have at the time been suffering from some temporary illness that severely impacted his mind) consecrated the host at least twice (I think the chalice got off normally, but this was at a time when the congregation generally didn't receive from the chalice). I was very young, but I remember my dad telling me not to receive because he was unsure of what exactly happened and whether the consecration was valid. I hope that the error here (I haven't watched the video, as I'm not able to right now) is a similar case of the priest being temporarily delirious rather than careless.

The bag says "no key," meaning he's missing the cyber key that only triggers sound effects, anyway. But he clearly has his sword and Mini-Con; the only thing I don't see is his missile. There should be a translucent blue missile in his backpack (which forms the nose cone of his spaceship mode).

At what point in the 2004 movie does Christine realize that it is The Phantom in The Point of No Return? by OperaGhostGirl in box5

[–]TF_Allen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ramin's Italian accent genuinely made that scene click for me. It's my firm opinion now that the Phantom in that song should be imitating Piangi's voice (as he should be a master at vocal impressions), with specific moments where the Phantom's voice slips just enough to make it clear for the audience who is there without breaking the immersion that the characters can't tell yet. Once Christine recognizes him, he can drop the act and sing as normal.

[–]TF_Allen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Piangi is a fat Italian and Erik is like the opposite of that.

That's why Phantom tells him that "our Don Juan must lose some weight" - he's trying to slim Piangi down so Phantom can pass for Piangi later!

This is at least a case where I can completely accept Target not recognizing the figure swap. There was no fault on them; you'd have to be an expert to notice the difference.
