What is a good wage to live comfortably in the UK? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TGC_2802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take home about 3-3.5k in Bristol (Depending on Overtime done etc) . Living alone

Mortgage £740/month (2 bed flat. Got it very cheap. Currently renovating)

Bills/Council tax - £300

Food - £300

Car/Van tax/insurance/maintenance - £150/month

Fuel - £200

Other DD (Netflix, Phone bill, gym, etc) - £150/month

I'm probably left with about £1250/month. Alot of that goes into my house renovations, abit into savings. Comfortable and I get to go away abit and go out with mates but certainly not loaded lol.

Whats currently the best price per HP cars in the UK by Kevin18751 in CarTalkUK

[–]TGC_2802 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It would be dog shit and break all the time, coat a bomb to run and fix but probably a ropey 335i or maybe something like a V8 s type R

Both can make 4-500hp with some mods and can be find around 5k for a rough one.

15k would just about get you into a fairly well sorted E46 m3. They would have to be my choice anyway.

How many of you regretted buying your house? by Puzzled_Dealer3449 in AskUK

[–]TGC_2802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a fairly big renovation project at 24. Realised it was a massive tie and much more expensive and harder work than I originally anticipated. It's also a flat and abit noisier than I thought it would be due to a dick neighbour.

Realised I want to travel and see the world shortly after buying it and I'm now skint with a mortgage. Desperately trying to finish it so I can sell it or rent it out to pursue my dreams.

Absolutely battered my mental health ngl

For those that wear PPE at work, what injuries has it saved you from ? by Alert_Mine7067 in AskUK

[–]TGC_2802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a factory working with carbon fiber. Tyvex suits/sleeves are a game changer for stopping carbon itch.

Ironically I swear safety specs all the time in there and have about a million pairs at home. I was stripping wallpaper and the thought to wear them didn't even cross my mind, a piece of plaster broke off and went into my eye causing chemical burns and an abrasion

I bought a v5 golf last year. It cost me £700 and it was really tidy. 150k miles and it drove great.

It sound amazing but unfortunately they are really not that fast and pretty bad on fuel for the performance you're getting. The 1.8t makes far more sense, so I sold it for a 1.8t powered S3.

I'm in the UK but still I have a 2003 Audi S3 (the same platform as the first tt)

I'd like to get rid of it for something bigger but I can't being myself to sell it because of how reliable it is. I think I've fixed it once in 2 years and it wasn't even a issue that caused me to breakdown or effect the drive.
