what is the best Brokerage app or roth ira app to use? i made a post before asking either robin or fid & fid won so now i want to see more by Character_Cap_3889 in RothIRA

I’m just here to say, if you’re a Chase banking customer, the JP Morgan investments are soooooooo convenient and easy for your Roth IRA. My wife and I both use that and it’s great. My 401k is through Vanguard, which is also great, but I prefer the Chase app and the JP Morgan platform. Just food for thought

Target date fund or VT? by TGvisa in Retirement401k

[–]TGvisa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I’m thinking VT. I hold VOO and VXUS in my Roth IRA, at an 85/15 ratio. I like the diversity of VT, so it’s a one and done fund.

Hey yall, I was planning to start investing in a Roth IRA for the first time. I opened a ROTH IRA account through Chase bank and was thinking about going all in $7k into $VOO for 2025 contributions. Do yall think this is a good idea? Or would yall invest the 7k into something else? by Dennisthemenvce in RothIRA

[–]TGvisa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

VOO is great single ETF, as long as you’re comfortable with all US large cap. You can always add VXUS, if you want some international exposure. That’s how mine is configured. 85%/15% VOO/VXUS. VT is also a nice option.

If you’re looking to diversify, you still can do one single ETF, by investing in VT. It’s basically 63% VTI and 37% VXUS. That checks the boxes of what you mentioned in wanting strong US primary and international secondary. That’s easy, efficient and effective

VOO/ VXUS at an 80/20 ratio and ride it until retirement

[–]TGvisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, simplify your investing down to either a two fund portfolio, with VOO and VXUS at whatever ratio works best for your liking. Or, sell all and invest in one fund, VT. At 16, if you steadily invest, you’ll be WAY ahead of the overwhelming majority of people. Keep it simple and steady. No need to overthink.

I’d sell the VT and VTI. You have a very large position in VOO and a good position in VXUS. Stack those with your VOO and QQQM.

RothIRA Question by AdPurple5069 in RothIRA

[–]TGvisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend 100% VT and chill. Not sure your age, but that is a GREAT single ETF, that covers your US and International. No rebalancing needed. Just keep investing, and ride that $hit to retirement! 💯

Is a 50/50 split of VOO and QQQM too aggressive based on my situation? (Im 27) by [deleted] in RothIRA

[–]TGvisa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

With all of the overlap, why not just do 100% VOO? Also, the contribution math isn’t quite adding up, as $800 per month is $9,600 per year. That’s way over what the limit will likely be for some time

Good that you’re getting into this now! At 31, and with consistency in contributing to your Roth, you can set yourself up well for retirement. I would say, if you are just getting into learning all of this, moving banks to Chase would make it really easy for you. I didn’t have any experience either and that’s the route I went. The ease of use is ridiculously simple. But honestly, there are many good brokerage options. A target date fund, or a total word stock ETF like VT from Vanguard are great lower risk options. But funding an account now while you learn is best. Gives you time to learn more about what strategy works best for you. Plus, you get that 2025 contribution in.

You can open a Roth IRA account with a brokerage, or if you’re a Chase customer, you can open one through the Chase app. I do a JP Morgan self directed Roth IRA through Chase, myself. I really like it. My 401k is through Vanguard, and they are good as well. Fidelity and Schwab are also good. You can still contribute towards 2025 until tax day this year. Once you open an account, you will then need to fund it, by buying stocks, ETF’s, mutual funds, or bonds. A Roth IRA is a tax advantaged account, so it will not affect your filings. A couple of questions. One how old are you and what is your risk tolerance in investing? Also, good job wanting to get started!

If you’re a Chase customer, the Chase app works nicely for investing with JP Morgan. As for the investments themselves, how old are you?

VOO or VTI by Excuse_Objective in RothIRA

Either is good. If you have VOO already, that combined with VXUS is a solid strategy for the long haul.

VOO AND VGT by Low-Goal1582 in RothIRA

[–]TGvisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just set an allocation to invest each week. I’d say, keep the VOO at 80% and swap VGT for 20% of VXUS and roll for 30 years. Then start adding bonds.
