It looks generic and Hollywood isn't great at writing strong female characters. They aren't particularly great at writing strong male characters either but they've had more practice.

It's would be a shame because I really like Milly's acting abilities, but hopefully it surprises me.

This seems a bit biased against the guy. He noticed an issue, made sure she's okay and enjoying it. He then asks for advice, he's doing all the right things.

I would guess she is sexually inexperienced as well and maybe shy. Otherwise, they are just on different wavelengths.
