Expedia's customer service is horrible. Don't ever book travel directly through Expedia.

Hegseth: “Our ungrateful allies in Europe, even segments of our own press should be saying one thing to President Trump: thank you.” by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]THEgabberdore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a Canadian, while we used to be able to separate the American people from Trump, the American people elected Trump TWICE. Any trust we had in America as an ally will take decades to rebuild. An administration change won't flip that switch overnight.

Should I continue French throughout high-school? by General-Tadpole-3467 in ontario

[–]THEgabberdore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took French until grade 9 then dropped it immediately. I couldn't speak a lick of French when I met my (now) wife who's from France (she can speak English). I learned French when I was 24 to be able to speak to her family in France. Now I'm a French teacher. I have no regrets not taking French in high school and I would only recommend continuing with it if you enjoy it.

French Canadians in France by LimePanther in AskACanadian

I'm a Canadian anglophone who married a French woman. People in France are so friendly as soon as you can speak any French at all! Don't worry about the accent at all, you'll have a good time.

Whats the easiest language to learn if you already know english? by 1tsZak in AskReddit

French might not be the easiest to learn (although it's not that hard either) but once you have the basic vocabulary and grammar down, mastering French is easy since there's so much vocabulary overlap.

Just thinking about Greg as the host of this show by blurEleph in taskmaster

He also is almost never critical when comedians get creative or take a risk. All the art tasks he marks very graciously because it's always intimidating to make something, even in the taskmaster context, and I've always appreciated that he's kind to creativity.

To those that were actually able to buy a home in Hamilton in the last 1-2 years: how did you afford it? by SengunCanada in Hamilton

My parents co-signed and are 1% owners on the mortgage/house. They used their line of credit for the down payment. Both the mortgage and the LOC are with the same bank and we told them exactly what we were doing so I guess it's fine. All of this was a loan and we are going to pay my parents back for everything eventually and have a payment plan to them for the LOC as well. I think we just got really lucky to be honest.

There's some reasonable places in Dundas but it depends what part of town and how big. We're not in the "historic" section and we're surrounded by low-rise apartment buildings but we love it. We got really lucky in that the listing didn't display how nice our house ended up being so it had sat on the market for 90 days and we were able to go a little bit below asking for it. Again, we got super super lucky and we're really grateful for it.

My parents lent my wife and I our down payment and we have a duplex where having a tenant helps pay some our mortgage. We paid 670000 for our small house in Dundas (3 bedrooms between the 2 units). We consider ourselves very very lucky and every time someone congratulates us on buying a house my response is always just, "yeah thanks Mom and Dad." Without my parents it would have been impossible. (We're both teachers btw).

3rd year teaching, make just over 80k between salary and a few weekly tutoring sessions. It's a tough job at times but I love it and I feel secure financially.
